unfortunately, buying a box wouldnt help me at all. the number they need off the box would not correspond to the PSP's ID. it would show that they were bought seperately, and that I got the PSP used. Sony will not repair a second-hand PSP for free.
I know this, because I asked them why they needed a box when I wanted them to get the dust out of the screen.
EDIT: bah, I cant have them repair it anyways. when I decided not to pay 130 to get the dust out of the screen, I opened it myself to get the dust out. Sony won't touch a PSP that doesnt have it's warranty sticker.
The only downside to that would be missing Powered Up.
With Powered Up on hold, it had better appear on the next DS/Game Boy, or som'body gonna ged-a hurd real bad. It's clear enough that the market for MM isn't on that platform, save the US. But the US is the only place where the PSP and DS are neck-and-neck.
If I can't fix it, I'm gonna OBLITERATE the thing.
Just tape the massacre that ensues. I need more stuff like that for my most idiotic project ever, a web-based public access show called "dogs will eat it."
There's a lot of downsides to having a broken PSP. I have Armored Core: Formula Front on the way from Jeroak, and I still havent finished PoPoLoCrois, and I wanted to get LocoRoco and Monster Hunter Freedom this summer.
I've opened it up, and it looks fine. the contacts for the D-pad are fine. the D-pad itself is fine, the rubber contact pad is fine. there are no visible problems with it. I dunno where to go from here. I guess I'm gonna keep taking it apart, and check for problems along the way.
