The Tanooki suit returns! At least according to Amazon (and I have my doubts). I've yet to read any actual reviews.

I'll be getting it tomorrow, assuming this secondary store has it by then.

There's no Tanoki as far as I know. There's fire Mario, Giant Mario, tiny Mario, and koopa shell Mario.

There are two things that this Mario game will undoubtedly be lacking that are almost a must:

* Yoshi - We've only had two games where you could ride Yoshi, not counting the Yoshi games and Paper Mario 2
* The Koopalings - And then Nintendo gave us the Koopa Kids in the Mario Party games, and Nintendo thought, "Hey, these kids are pretty neat. Let's use one of them as Bowser's son! Maybe then we won't have to use resources on animating the 7 Koopalings!"

Oh yes, and there's also the Starmen. But considering those things were retooled into trophy prizes starting in Mario 64, we'll probably never see a new Mario game using those as an invinciblity item.

Even though I haven't played it yet, I think the 1up review is valid. It is another Mario game...it does as much as other sequels are docked for. Why should Nintendo get any special treatment?

It's actually refreshing to see an honest take on it since Nintendo scores are so inflated anyway. Of course, I've come to accept my taste in games differs much from the average gamer.

I bet part of it is the yearly Mario Parties, Mario Strikers, Mario Basketball, Mario Baseball, Mario Chess, Mario Bowling, Mario Subpar-cheesy...

Nintendo's relying on Mario way too much.
