    PSP firmware... opinions?

im sure there are lots of you that may be having this same issue.

without even bringing piracy into it, do you guys think the advantages of being able to run more homebrew and such on 1.5 fw outweigh the advantages of upgrading to 2.6?

what are the most useful features of the different firmware versions?

if this is already being discussed elsewhere on the boards, I'll be happy to just read those. In fact, Im sure I could find this info elsewhere on the internet, I just wanted to know your opinions on the subject.

    2.7 is out.

I don't know, downloadable content really wets my whistle, as homebrew games aren't really anything extremely serious yet.

      ooooh... 2.7 says you.

this decision is getting tougher and tougher.

I basically have to decide between having:

      8 psp games
      snes emulator
      psp radio

      or having:

      1 psp game
      downloadable content
      web browser
ADVENT CHILDREN (I have the umd, and cant watch it. grr. at least I have the dvd too)

      hrrrrrrmmmmmmm

once I upgrade, theres no going back. I will lose 7 high quality (illegally aquired) psp games that I haven't even beaten most of yet.

      *sigh*

*edit* and I know that pirates are generally frowned upon in this community. I already know I can't do it anymore or else I will very potentially get caught.

my conflict right now is, should I have to get rid of all of the pirated games I have currently?

I promise I'll be good from now on.. especially to companies I worship (such as square enix and capcom. I buy extra stuff and hype my favorite products as much as I can so they are successful, and then the companies continue making them. never doubt the power of one eccentric fan.)

There is a downgrader, plus there apparently are some homebrew games for later versions. I'd choose GTA, Maveric Hunter X, Untold Legends 2, and whatever other games can only be played on later firmware over an emulator any day.

On a side note, when I bought Untold Legends 2 the guy who got it out of the case asked me if I had the latest firmware, as though saying no would convince me not to buy a game. Lazy ****ing Wal-Mart clerks.

You didnt pay for the games, you have no right to play them.

My thoughts exactly, Valk. They work hard to make those games, the least you could do is buy them. If you don't have the money then save up for it.

                  brilliance.

I always felt guilty playing my illegal games anyway.

it makes sense now. I didn't pay for them, I have no right to play them.

perhaps that is why I didn't get very far in maverick hunter x, even though it's the best game on psp imoh. i mean, IMHO. which is to say "in my humble opinion." *OMG SHUT UP NOOB*

anyway, Im seconds away from pushing the button that will make my psp better and more legal.

what are advantages of 2.7? did they implement gps yet?

Loco Roco is the only demo released so far. I'm sure there will be others though.

LocoRoco is so amazing. I'm glad someone got the bright idea and decided to translate it.
