Re: No more Megaman on the PSP?

Yeah, I'm sure the rampant piracy of PSP software is a contributing factor to the low sales for everything released for the system. It's pretty much buy a 1 or 2 gig memory stick, and never have to pay for anything ever again.

it's worth upgrading your firmware though. There's online aspects of quite a few games (like Megaman Powered Up) that are a lot of fun, and the new 2.7 firmware lets you download and play game demos like the adorably insane Loco Roco.

I'm sure it's nice to be able to play all sorts of console gameso n the go. hell, it sounds great. But when it comes to pirating actual PSP games rather than buying them, thats awful. it's a struggling system as it is, the piracy is just going to push developers away from it. Yeah, the games are expensive, but I dont think that's just cause for it. I only have 2 PSP games. Megaman Powered Up, and Megaman Maverick Hunter X. and I've had my system since around... november, I think? and both those games were just released this year. Would I like to own more? oh hell yeah. but only if I pay for them.

People have been pirating PSP games? Now that really ****es me off! I kind of get a bit steamed when I hear of people pirating. They work hard to make those games and then the pirate ****s them!

I didn't see myself owning very many PSP games. All I had at first was MegaMan PU, but I went and bought Capcom Classics today to keep me busy for a while. Already beat Street Fighter (never will I play that crap again!), and Final Fight. Right now I'm on Block Block (loving this game for some odd reason). I really wanna play co-op with others on these games, but it only supports Ad hoc.

Piracy happens with every system, but unfortunately Sony practically built the PSP around the ability to play pirated games. the 1.5 firmware can play a huge variety of home-made applications right off the memory stick through the "game" option. emulators, and PSP games that have been put on the memory stick both are extremely easy to get running. Nothing extra needed.

This is pretty lame. I was looking forward to a stateside release the Legends I and II pack but it looks like it might not show up.

Powered Up was an excelent game, too. It reminded me of Megaman II which is a GOOD thing.

Legends 1 and 2 won't be released stateside regardless of what capcom wants.

SCEA has a ban on PS1 ports in the US. If you want to release a PS1 game for the PSP, you have to wait for their upcoming emulator and release it on that.

              Welcome back, by the way!

Oh yea... I forgot about this place. I came back from sea duty and said "lol i wonder what the pavilion is doing"

You havent heard? Sony plans on releasing their own PS1 emulator for the PSP, although they havent said when, or how they're gonna handle an analog stick and four buttons missing.

                    This information is orgasmic...

                    ...and puzzling all in one.

So is the ban on DIRECT ports because Valkyrie Profile Lenne (or whatever it's called) is a port of Valkyrie Profile but it also contains a full length prequel or something. I guess they dodge the bullet by not being the entire original game.

Re: No more Megaman on the PSP?

the ban is on direct ports, which both legends games are. in fact, they are the PS1 games running on capcom's own proprietary emulator.

I'm crossing my fingers this emulator works out. Maybe you can buy a usb adaptor for the dual shock or they'll have an attachable joystick/shoulder button pack or something. The thought of annoying people with the soundtrack from Rhapsody fills me with happiness.

That, and playing some of Square's forgotten finest on the road like Musashi, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, and Einhander is too great.

EDIT: It'd be awesome if monster rancher could read the data from UMD's as well.

I did a search on it on google and got a screenshot (can't say it's real or not) from a sony based news bulletin/blog. It's speculated as a download service where you pay about $10-15 to download the game direct to your memory card. I haven't the foggiest how another joystick and the two extra shoulder buttons will be implemented, but I also read you can use wi-fi for multiplayer which makes playing Armored Core and Monster Rancher that much better.

Well, the original PS1 controller didn't have two analog sticks...

...what? You need both of them for Ape Escape, when was it not 2?
