Re: Catching up w/ Suikoden
Don't really see the "choose your own adventure" part yet, but I'm liking it.
I'm about 5 hours into it so far, and what you've heard is true...it takes a while to get started. I haven't encountered a "real" challenging dungeon yet, but the plot is really sucking me in, I like the voice acting, and a lot of the animation is quite good...even if it's because it's mocap. You can so tell when it's not mocap cuz the animation gets awkward and bad.
Anyway, so far I'm hooked. I've been itching for an RPG w/ an intriguing political plot. Nothing is quite black and white so far, which I guess is what Suikoden is known for.
Oh, and THANK GOD, the battle engine is fast and responsive. Battles won't take you a year and a day like they did in 3, because they strike a nice balance between making the attacks quick and looking good as well.
