Re: Whats your favorite Final Fantasy game?

I just hope that the FF series has a bright future. The series as of late has been increasing one thing while lowering the qualities of another (a good example of this is FFX-2.) But with the popularity of the series they will still make lots of money.
I had to change accounts. I'm here now - http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/member.php?u=1475

X-2 had a fine battle system(which is to say I was glad to see the return of ATB), but the most awful and trite storyline complimented by some of the most irritating/boring/wooden characters in the series.

Oh, wow... I never saw that scene, 'cause I always ended up saving Cid. But I have a save file that's near that part, guess I'm gonna have to see it.

        FF6
        FFT
FFMQ (go ahead and hate me)

I made a big post a while back about why I felt Kefka was the best villian in any FF, but I don't feel like looking for it. I feel like FF6 is the best FF game they've ever made, and I don't think they'll ever top it. I picked it up in a pawn shop for $10 (catridge only) a long long time ago. Some aspect of the game, whether it's talking about one of the character's being cool or listening to some remixes of some of the games tracks, is part of pretty much everyday life now.

FFT is just plain fun. Along with FF6, it's a game I don't want to see a sequel for, but I want to play more of. I want there to BE more of the game itself to play. But no matter how much wishing or hoping I do, FF6 and FFT sit in my room, game data unchanged.

FFMQ has nostalgia for me. (First FF game I actually got to play... and it's not even FF) Not really good, or even anything that remotely resembles something that could be mistaken for an FF by a drunk crackhead with no eyes, but I still love it.

FFXI is also still extremely fun. Friends 100% make or break this game for me. Without them, I'd never touch it. With them, I can't put it down.

        I also loved FF7, FF8, FFX, FF9, FF:CC, and FF5. I liked FF4, FFTA, and FF1. I tolerated FF2. I never played FF3. I hate FFX-2.

There are so many spelling errors in this topic I want to vomit all over it.

FFVI for N64 -- it's got locke, terra and shadow!

Look at that. It's TERRA, Locke, and Shadow. Not Celes. Terra. No Celes there. Just 100% Terra.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I guess I'll do a list like everyone else:

                      FF7
                      FF6
                      FF1
                      FF10
                      FF9
                      FF2
                      FF8
                      FF5

and then FF10-2 and FF11 way below the rest.
                      I haven't played FF3 or 4.
                      Games:

SS World (RPGM2) Extravaganzicon Contest Winner
                      A Ronin Story (RPGM3)
                      SS World 2 (RPGM2)

Re: Whats your favorite Final Fantasy game?

See, this is why Kefka made the best villian. When he first shows up, he's kinda like a representative to the Empire. He's there for comic relief, even though he is a bad guy. That's the way he's first portrayed. The Emperor must be the REAL evil. Then he does one of the most vile acts in video game history, by poisoning evrey single person in Doma Castle. And despite your attempts at stopping him from doing so, he always manages to get away and you're unable to prevent it. So then you fight him in Narshe. Finally, you'll be able to kill this idiot. But... but NO! He runs away!! And this sorta thing happens throughout most of the game. You wonder, fod godsakes, why won't this muther&*&(& die?! At one point of the game he's finally locked up! Good freakin riddance!! Except... He returns to do even more despicable acts! And then he becomes the last boss of the game.

And see then, that's when the realization will hit. All throughout the game you have wanted to kill this b**ch. Because he is so godamn annoying. Like a oily snake or a pest that just won't go the hell away. Even though he looks like a weak a** B*stard, he succeeds in accomplishing so many evil acts, without ever suffering from any consequences. You have this intense desire to kill him, because he is so freakin evil. Pause... well...shouldn't that be the reason WHY you want to kill the ultimate evil in a game?

He makes a great bad guy, because he makes you want to beat the crap out of him. Oh and yes... and he laughs. At you.

Re: Whats your favorite Final Fantasy game?

The great thing about my sentence up there is that sans extra words it doesn't require punctuation mid-sentence to be correct.

I could have gone your way, Funk. I could also have said: "There are so many spelling errors in this topic that I want to vomit all over it."

But because of the versatility of the language, all three are technically correct. Don't mess with the master.

                          And to avoid topic-hijackery:

                          1. FFVIII's ending
                          2. FFIX's ending
                          3. FFVI
                          4. FFVII
                          5. FFVIII
                          6. FFT
                          7. FFIX
                          8. FFIV
                          9. FFTA (all of the charm, none of the intrigue, none of the difficulty)

                            FF6

I might be more partial towards 7 since I played it first.

Re: Whats your favorite Final Fantasy game?

On a more minor level, I've been spoiled by recent RPG's and their dual shock analog control support. This makes FFVII feel very wierd using the D-pad to explore a fully 3D world map. Navigating psuedo-3d dungeons was very awkward. I understand back then that analog support wasn't mainstream yet, but being spoiled now just ruins the experience more.
Doesn't help that the D-pad isn't perfectly aligned with what's on screen. Too many places I would hold up only to go in a more diagonal direction.
Oh, wow... I never saw that scene, 'cause I always ended up saving Cid. But I have a save file that's near that part, guess I'm gonna have to see it.
I'm interested in knowing what the saving Cid scene is like compared to the OMG CID DIED!!! scene.
FFT is just plain fun. Along with FF6, it's a game I don't want to see a sequel for
Then I take it you've never seen FFT Advance.
FFVI for N64 -- it's got locke, terra and shadow!
That does NOT look the same as the SNES game. The graphics are way too simplified. That's one thing that kinda worries me about 2D games getting turned into 3D games. Often, a lot of the detail would be lost, or it wouldn't still look the same. I'm pretty sure that by now the consoles are definately powerful enough to render this game in complete 3D with all the detail, with some graphical techniques used so that the funny animations still look funny.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

                                FFT Advance isn't a sequel.

I never got that emotionally invested in Kefka. Especially in the second half. He'll always be that green clown you fight in Narshe, not the god being with one wing you fight at the end.
