You think this would work? NOPE IT DOESN'T

Do you think if I tried to return my broken PS2 in its original box to Wal-Mart with no receipt they'd let me exchange it for a new one?

I'd be all like "I got this as a gift and it broke so I want to exchange it for a new one"

    Think that'd work?

yes. I've known a lot of people who have done that.

    BUT...

is it an old blue-box PS2? a lot of stores havent had those in almost a year, and thus would know it's pretty old.

it wouldn't hurt to try if you've got the confidence.

That was the origional way to fix DREs.

Arrest him. Ban him from the store if he's lucky. I've heard stories.

basically, what I mean is: is the PS2 a slim PS2? no stores have had anything but those for the past year, so there's no way they would accept a non-slim PS2.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but all the Wal-Marts around here REQUIRE a reciept before they'll even talk to you.

I am coming for all of you!

maybe try target? I've taken things back there without a receipt.

Depends on who the cashier is. If they look foreign, is an obese woman, or looks like a country redneck with a lazy eye, take it back because you'll always be successful due to their laziness. If they seem reluctant at first, complain as hard as you can or start whining. Most cashiers can't stand dealing with an angry customer and will do anything to shut you up.

                          Man, human profiling. AMERICA.

So I went to Wal-Mart and all was well. I told them my grandma bought it for me and I acted like a retard. I thought I was in the clear.

Until the supervisor tells the lady to call Sony. She gives Sony the serial number and they tell her it was purchased at Best Buy two years ago and that the warranty expired.

                            BOOM.

                            Bye bye PS2 exchange.

I had no idea they had the ability to find out exactly when and where you bought the PS2 based on the serial number.

                            That's insane, right?

                            So, no. It doesn't work.
