    Well no big deal to me, since I already beat the game. Was that even mentioned in-game?

      It's hinted at but not really stated out loud.
      The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

            "Palazzo" is a common last name among individuals of Italian or Peruvian descent
            Still could be used in both I suppose.

                I thought it interesting the link between Kain Highwind of FF4 and Richard Highwind of FF2.
