I loved Secret of Mana, and was wondering if this game was as good. I don't remember why I didn't pick it, has anyone played it? What do you think? Whats it about is it in the same world?

Re: Legend Of Mana
Legend of Mana has a few things going for it. Great graphics and music, interesting character designs, some unique gameplay elements.
The battle system is complete crap. You can literally sit there and tap the attack button in rhythm to completely prevent foes from moving or acting.

Re: Legend Of Mana
It was a very interesting game. I own it, but havent played it for quite a while. The battle system is simmilar to previous Manas, just kinda "2D" in a way. You also can only have one extra party member at a time. The music is just great. The story isnt the best in the RPG world; typical "Save the Tree of Mana". Also, it is very non-linear. You get "Artifacts" that represent areas of the world. You recieve them from doing different quests and from different people. You place them somewhere on the World Map, and you can visit there. Most of the game's story is comprised up of many, MANY side quests and side stories that eventually lead to the end.
As great as other Mana titles? No.
A decent game worth a play or two? Yes.
Oh, and BTW, it is a VERY hard find. Legend of Mana is considered one of those "Cult Classic Rarities", like Suikoden 2. Someone may find it every day at a local GameStop in one state, while another, will never see it once.Current Project: Writing the story for my next game. That is all.

Re: Legend Of Mana
I think it's pretty cool. It's funny though, the main character is so customizable, but the other characters, who can only be controlled by Player 2, aren't customizable at all.
The main character has no name, so you pick your own (or select a randomly generated one), and after a certain point, you have access to your very own blacksmith shop. You can make any kind of equipment out of almost anything...(stone robes, anyone? My favorite is SILK FLAIL however) and you can rename any piece of equipment to whatever you want. But customizing weapons stats is crazy. At first it makes no senses, but if you study it long enough (or look at a FAQ, which I recommend) you can temper a weapon enough so that it's power is almost tripled...and have various other effects...You can also build Golems after a certain point as well...a third character controlled by the CPU based on how you build it...
The customization features are pretty cool...That's one of the reasons why I like the battles, you can make some crazy weapons and armor, build your own Golem or have a pet monster aid you in battle...oh, and it's two players.
Secret of Mana was three players though, and anyone could talk to anyone or buy stuff on their own, and such. Legend of Mana is only two players, and basically only player 1 can do anything. Player 2 is some "NPC" that has locked equipment and techniques, but it's still kind of interesting. I played this game so much with my brother...fighting that obnoxious plant (on a higher difficulty) and continuing like 10 times, playing till like 2 in the morning...heh, good times.

Re: Legend Of Mana
I own original copies of Suikoden 2, Legend of Mana, and Xenogears.
I rule."At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

Re: Legend Of Mana
Guess I rule as well. Too bad the copies of my game arent in their orginal packaging, i.e., too bad I opened them to play them. Could be worth quite a lot on eBay... Not like I would sell them.Originally posted by Garr123I own original copies of Suikoden 2, Legend of Mana, and Xenogears.

Re: Legend Of Mana
The music was pretty cool, and the water-colored graphics were a nice touch. My biggest beef was perhaps the battle system and the fact it was just too easy. During my first trip through the game, my characters were like lv45 or so, and all the enemies were about 29 or so, even the last boss.
