Re: Dark Souls (Demon's Souls sequel)

I've been trying to figure out if this uses the Demon's Souls engine, but from the clips with water/sky I think it might be a newer/refined version. Someone should organize Pav dungeon crawling nights, since this supports large group Co-op.

If the co-op experience is different than Demon's Souls, it might be possible. Otherwise it'll just be a crapshoot. Japan hasn't really figured out how online co-op behavior should evolve past PSO/Monster Hunter.

Re: Dark Souls (Demon's Souls sequel)

Given that this one will be on the 360 (outside of Japan anyway), will that make it any easier to co-op with or invade your friends on that platform?

Along the same lines, was it developed for the PS3 and ported to the 360?

                  I love the interview.

"Well, to simply put it, this game is not a sequel </endlegalstatement> Now that we have that out of the way, allow me to continue comparing every tiny fabric and aspect of this game to Demon's Souls every time I complete a sentence, and also explain how it is the same thing but in a different direction much like a Demon's Souls 2, or like a Demon's Souls: Gaiden. Oh, and here's some gameplay footage to show you that it even looks the same. But don't tell Sony. Not that they would care, cause it's not Demon's Souls 2. We're just saying."

                      Re: Dark Souls

Haven't had a reason to price them recently, but I know about 8 weeks after the NA release, they were going for $180-$250. That was when the game was pretty hot though, and very near the Christmas shopping season, so that might be the highwater mark.

I had pre-ordered the deluxe edition, and thought to gift another one to a friend for his birthday, but at $180+, he got the standard.

I bought 4 myself. Had one sent to Valk, opened and played one, and left the other two sealed. Sadly, I also have the Asian and the deluxe EU version as well.

I always grab special editions if available, might as well spend an extra 10 dollars and get a cool art book.

The Demon's Souls SE had a OST too!

                            Re: Dark Souls

Actually, no. It did if you preordered (which realistically was about the only way you would have gotten your hands on one, so you're sorta right), but technically, it only came with the strat guide. The OST and the artbook came bundled with it as a preorder bonus. I think one of my sealed copies is from Amazon and one is from Gamestop...the Amazon copy has the bonus stuff shrinkwrapped on the outside of the DE bundle, and the Gamestop copy had the bonus stuff separate.

I think I might have 4-5 copies of the artbook/soundtrack, too. It helps when you spend lots of money and put lots of preorders in at your local Gamestop to be hooked up with extra copies of the promotional stuff they have lying around.

Oh, just checked Amazon, and aside from one of 'em going for $139, the average going price is $250, with some ridiculous moron still trying to get $1000 for one more than a year after I last checked the going price.

The EU Black Phantom Edition (I've opened and played mine) is going for $180-$250 itself.

All of that being said, I read the Kotaku thing (at least, I think I did...Gloom's link did not work on my phone), and I had a huge smile plastered to my face the entire time.
