    This needs to happen more often.

    New games for old systems.

    We should be able to pack more goodies in the cartridges to really push these consoles to new levels, right?

    It seems like it would cost a fortune to acquire the physical media and whatnot, though.



    That said, this game looks pretty stale.

      I'm not trying to be a downer I just don't want to give money to people who don't deserve money regardless of their product. I don't understand how this is an alien concept?

      A lot of these old cartridges were reverse engineered years ago so the internals are cheap and easy to reproduce. I modded my SNES into a developer's kit a few years ago but making games on these things is a pretty archaic process. Maybe one day I'll hire someone who actually knows what they're doing.

        Because it's weird. Why deprive yourself of a potentially good game, just 'cause you don't like the developer? It's like saying you won't be buying any more Castlevania games just 'cause you no longer like Konami. Granted, that's comparing a big developer with an indie group, but it's the same concept.

          Amusingly enough, there doesn't seem to be any heated discussion about this game over on GameFAQs at all:

          Most of the trolling over there is on the more current boards. The regulars on the various Genesis boards tend to be more mature, and they're the only ones over there who are really going to care. The only complaints I saw was that GFs didn't have a page up for the game, but they seem to have added one.

            People still make Atari homebrew games and I think that's pretty cool.

              Yeah, outside of the personal vendetta of Marcus - I've heard nothing but positive things about the game (including from my friend who actually has it). I'm looking forward to it.

                You know? You're absolutely right. What was I thinking? In fact, what am I doing with all these games? Xbox 360? Pssht. *throws all her 360, Wii, N64, SNES, etc. games away and plans never to buy a new game again*
                Usually those games are of higher quality than those made with RPGMaker.

                The only selling point is that this is on Genesis. That's about it.

                  Eh, I'd rather they release it on Wii or 360 for $15 instead. No way I'm buying a Genesis to play an old-school "new" RPG.

                  Not a fan of the colors, but then again I always thought Genesis games had really odd-colors to them.

                        Right. This is for retro fans only. Those who really enjoy playing these games on the original consoles.

                          Well, I *am* a retro fan. I only play FF4/6, Breath of Fire, etc. on my SNES. Not all retro fans own a Genesis.

                            Didn't the Genesis only have something like 256 colors compared to several thousand on the SNES?

                              Looks like

                              Genesis: 64 simultaneous colors of 512 color pallete.
                              SNES: 256 simultaneous colors of 32768 colors.

                              Its not the limited colors that seem "off" about it, its the shades of yellow/brown/beige that just seem...oddly "discolored" whenever I play a Genesis game.
