I see it as a game on demand (XBOX 360), I heard it was a lot of fun but not sure if its worth 30$. Anyone played and or liked this game?

Re: Dragon Age: Origins
I LOVE this game. But you are best off getting the ultimate edition.
The console version feels alot like Kotor. Visuals are kind of sub par, but I love how you tackle the game in any order or fashion you want. I got like, fifty hours into my file and I still haven't beaten it yet, but that's more because my old copy got stolen a few months back.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins
There's SO much to do. With all the DLC it feels like its twice or thrice the game at that point. But MAN combat can be rough in Hard and Nightmare. But I can't play on Normal. That "party-members-can-walk-in-your-Mage's-big-****ing-tornado-of-super-inferno-hellfire-of-death" thing with no worries doesn't seem right to me as a former P&P gamer. It's a gem, though. I like the visuals, despite some occasional jagging here and there.
Edit: Off-topic. How does this have 0 views but 3 replies?? Nevermind. It's up to 16. I just thought that was wierd.Last edited by Dallas Alvis II; 11-25-2010, 08:58 PM.------------

Re: Dragon Age: Origins
Playing on the hardest difficulty, with any class, is fairly straightforward. However the game is loads and loads of fun. I've played the game over and over around 4-5 times.
Getting on PC is good advise though as there's a huge modding community to it as well. Which just adds to the replayability to it.

Because you're John Mora?Originally posted by John Mora View PostI'm playing on Normal with Rogue and it seems I keep getting creamed and don't know why.
I think I played on Normal myself, and the only battles I ever had a major problem with were the ones toward the end of that endless warehouse, and some optional ones in a forest somewhere that you had to manually trigger, and then got overwhelmed by massively strong enemies.
As for visuals, I think they have just a FEW more issues than jaggies. They looked like a low-budget first gen Xbox 360 game, and there were quite a few graphical glitches. However, as I'm nowhere near being a graphics whore, I could overlook the really subpar graphics, because the game was incredibly fun and addicting. I never could understand people who made the (really dumb) comparison between DA:O and Demon's Souls when both games were still new, and said that graphically, Demon's Souls was bland and average, while DA:O's graphics were really good. Really? Were those people seriously just blind?

Tactics and placement. But the rogue kind of got shafted as far as balance (in the sense that it seems easier to have a disjointed build than the other two classes), at least, I always thought so. And there is a lacking of rogues in the game compared to all of the warriors.
But generally, as long as you have that "MMO/P&P roles" logic, you're usually okay.Last edited by Dallas Alvis II; 11-26-2010, 12:15 AM.------------

Re: Dragon Age: Origins
Get Alistar or any of your warrior classes to get the agression/taunt skill. Stealth while in combat (if you put points into it) Get a mage to heal your tank, sneak from behind and just utterly destroy the enemy.Originally posted by John Mora View PostI'm playing on Normal with Rogue and it seems I keep getting creamed and don't know why.
Remember that the enemy sets up ambushes and that you have to be prepared for that. IF you're a rogue this gets a lot more fun however. You can stealth in (with max stealth preferred) and set up traps for your would-be ambushers. Sneak back to your party and then throw a bomb at thier location. They get ticked off and run straight into your traps. Done.
Also make sure you're setting up your "gambits" (to use FFXII term for mora) correctly. They always hit 1 before 2 and 3 before 4, etc. so:
1: if HP < 50% = Take LESSER Potion
2: if HP < 25% = Take BIGGER potion
Then you AI allies will always take a lesser potion before the bigger one. Drag and drop them in sequence of what you think is most important.
Rogues are indeed the most fun class to play in my opinion as they're very versatile.
I find it difficult to ever screw your build over in this game. Even if you spread your skills evenly. However if you took your own advice Mora and got the PC version I recommended THIS mod. If you felt you screwed up someplace.
I should note that the very first patch on this game made easy and normal mode a lot easier. However this game is more or less like Baldurs Gate in the fact that you can pause any time and you have to actually have a plan for each encounter instead of just mashing the attack button.
Also if you want an easy time. Get a whole party of mages + tank. And just roflstomp the entire game.
Hope that helped. If not, meh.

EDIT:
Oh! And if anyone is interested, I just found it while looking for mods for mora. Someone recreated the first dungeon of Baldurs Gate 2, if you have the PC version get it here.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins
I've found that MMORPG gamers (such as WoW players) or people that play Pen & Paper RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons have an easier time with this because of the breakdown of roles that each class generally possesses.Originally posted by John Mora View PostI don't know what that means.
The warrior is your quintessential "tank" that holds the enemy aggression, or "Aggro" as MMO'ers have called it. Everyone can tell you that if the warriors die, its likely closing curtains for everyone else in the party. Like Red Dragon said, Threaten or Taunt helps keep enemies away from mages and rogues. Most warriors you recruit, I think, have either Threaten or Taunt, already. I'm not sure about that, though. You can't really mess this class up. Really. Everything about it is pretty straight-forward: Get in and kill ****.
Mages heal allies, debuff and harm enemies with "blasts" or instant damage, or "DPS/DOT", damage per second/over time. To be honest I think the Mage is the most flexible class in the game, and hard to mess up if you established that Mage's role in the party in terms of combat. Several people I know have picked mage in games like this and pick spells that just "sound cool" but wonder why it doesn't work. Usually its because they haven't established what role the mage is going to play, strategically. And Normal difficulty pretty much lets them toss spells in there without worrying about affecting the party too much.
The basic idea for a rogue if they don't have Stealth is to either A. Keep them as ranged damage or B. Melee with something that a warrior is already attacking and flank it to support the warrior. If they go toe-to-toe with something at full health, alone (later in the game, anyway) they aren't
likely aren't going to stand a chance in hell. Not only that but the rogue's bread and butter is their damage bonus from flanking foes. If the enemy turns around, use the ability that stuns them ("Dirty Tactics/Fighting", I think all rogues have it) and swing right back around the enemy and keep going for the back. If you can, try to get the warrior to do the same dance to the front. I've always found it easier for my rogue to use ranged weapons after an ambush with traps and only get in the mix when the enemy numbers have thinned out significantly. Then again, I was playing with a unique Ranger specialization build. They aren't a class you can just "pick up and play" like Warriors.
I kind of wish the game had one more rogue and one more mage. I mean really: 2 Mages, 2 Rogues....6 Warriors. For me though, Hard mode is what Normal should have been.Last edited by Dallas Alvis II; 11-26-2010, 05:12 PM.------------
