But yeah, SyFy basically just looks at production companies' pitches and decides who it wants to work with. The onus is entirely on the production staff if it sucks and in the case of BSG, they were working with someone who actually knew what the **** he was doing, since he was a veteran of several sci-fi/genre shows.

Except in mid-to-late Season 2 when Sci-Fi started ****ing with the show's format, trying to make it more accessible and alienating its fans. =V

Ron Moore blamed the production schedule more than Sci-Fi interfering. That's why Season 3 and 4 had a longer hiatus.

I believe that SyFy's movies are so bad and so goofy that they have a unique charm to them after multiple viewings.

Interesting. I like the series, especially Guerilla, but would say it's not known for the most scintillating plots. If anything, it's as much or more a multiplayer-centric franchise than a single player one. But hey, there's certainly more story there than stuff like Doom or Super Mario Brothers, and those got the big screen treatment. I guess SyFy can wring enough out for a two hour showcase of has-been actors, languid direction, insipid writing, that will somehow end up fairly watchable in spite (or because) of the rotten elements of that equation. But a series? Has there even been a non-animated show based on a game or game series? At least, since the days of Captain Lou Albano.
