    Re: Christmas Vidya Memories

Nothing for me was greater than the Christmas of I think 98 or 99 where I got Harvest Moon 64 and my first Zelda game, Ocarina of Time.

I played Harvest Moon for hours and hours straight that Christmas Day, and then not to be outdone, when I got tired of it finally, I moved to Ocarina and had just as much fun.

    Good Christmas.

20 years ago we got the SNES and Genesis the same Christmas morning. We just about pooped ourselves. Then played Mario World and Sonic BACK to BACK. ****in' A.

10 years ago it was all about Soul Calibur, FF8 and Xenogears. Everything just felt right and warm. Laying on the floor playing Soul Calibur, listening to FF8's orchestra album and Xenogears Creid... and the Princess Mononoke soundtrack too.

LAST year I got the Westwood-developed Blade Runner PC game. Been looking for it for ages and my BROTHERRRRRRS found it for $3 or something at some dingy video game shop.

      Weeeee~

edit: Also, Shenmue and Parasite Eve are really Christmasy. Or wintry. Or snowy. And I played 'em both recently so they just remind me of this time of year. :V

Speaking of FF8. The year it came out I went to buy it from my brother and I, but when I got to the cashier I was about 4 dollars short, the cashier lady grabbed like 5 coupons or so and scanned them all so I could get the game. She was pretty awesome.

The Sonic & Knuckles christmas is pretty tops but I think my best one was me and my brother both getting MK2, I've gone over this a few times before here I think though.

              Re: Christmas Vidya Memories

I was kinda miffed when my oldest sister sold the NES. Sure, she did buy it with her own money, but she also sold it with all the games which were essentially mine.

That Christmas was gonna be boring. I couldn't ask for games, so instead requested some Ninja Turtles figures. I also got plenty of money. But the biggest surprise was receiving a Gameboy from my godfather. My cousins and I were glued to Tetris for the remainder of the night.
On boxing day I got to take my wad of cash and pick out some more games. I selected Super Mario Land and Metroid II.

A couple of years later, when she got her first job, my sister redeemed herself.
A big box was addressed to my other sister, and a smaller package was intended for me. I was instructed not to open it till last; through the wrapping it felt like hard cover books. Yawn.
Impatient for my turn to come, I discretely broke a flap open revealing an orange and blue "SON". I couldn't contain my gasp!
The second my other sister began opening the large box, I tore into my own. Sonic 2 and Ecco the Dolphin gleamed at me, and a Genesis at my other sister. I couldn't be more elated. All was instantly forgiven.

However the box had to have been opened before to separate the games from the system proper. Apparently she thought the secret was undone as I had gotten up to use the bathroom late one night and she was trying it out on the living room floor. I had apparently bought the explanation that it was just TV. I have no recollection of this.
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

I fondly remember Christmas of '96 getting a N64. Played Mario 64 and Killer Instinct Gold (C-C-C-COMBO BREAKAH!) for 24 hours straight. God damn, that werewolf guy was cheap and had some crazy juggles.

I will fondly remember this year as the season I lost all my systems in a break-up and broke my own DS with static electricity.

Oh well, I'm still alive at least.
                          ...and that's why.

I'll remember this year, too! I got a car! and a Playstation 3! and a buttload of games!

                            Bioshock
                            Ratchet & Clank Tod
Ratchet & Clank the new one
                            Uncharted the first one
                            Uncharted 2
                            God of War Cashgrab
                            Tekken 6
Star Wars: the Force Unleashed collector's something that came with a Darth Vader card I guess
                            the Saboteur
                            Infamous

at least I think that's all I got. so far, I've only played Infamous and Ratchet & Clank Tod. I never thought I'd look at my shelf and say, "wow, too many games, Josh". but that day has come. too many games, Josh! I dunno what to play.

I also got some blu-rays. I got the new editions of the first two Harry Potter movies and the new one that just came out, too, 500 Days of Summer, District 9, Star Wars cartoon's first season, some other things. whatevz. great Christmas, guys. I made out like a damn bandit.
