Come again? (everything you've always suspected about Activision)

Activision head verbalizes what we've known all along.

    Specifically:

He pointed to changes he implemented in the past as being particularly beneficial, such as designing the employee incentive program so it, "really rewards profit and nothing else."
The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games."
The executive said that he has tried to instill into the company culture "skepticism, pessimism, and fear" of the global economic downturn...

If this does not cause any true gamer to boycott the company on sheer principle, I don't know what will.

<---is a hypocrite for wanting DJ Hero.

Publishers only caring about profit and returns what a surprise! [/obvious sarcasm]

Nothing I didn't expect to hear from a giant, soulless corporation. Problem is that everything these guys touch turns to gold. Expect Modern Warfare 2 to sell 20 million units by January 2010 and it'll give ass hats like this even more grounds to brag.

I'm glad Harmonix broke off from them. Nobody deserves to work for terrible people like this.

Well, I guess I won't be buying any Activision stuff.

But since I don't really care about Guitar Hero anymore and shooters are about as low on my interest scale as one can get, and I don't ever plan to play WoW, I guess that's status quo for me.

I imagine that the only thing that separates Activision from the majority of other developers/publishers is that their CEO is a big enough dick to actually be honest about what he's doing.

              I agree.

Video games are a business, not an art-form.

              And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't

                He's become

And Guitar Hero sucks now. I figured that was pretty much apparent when they made #2.

Guitar Hero didn't start sucking until the 4th installment. GH I was just the first, GH II really upped the anty, and GH III perfected the game as it should be. Then Activision sold it out with the portable titles, rushed band modes, and all whatelse.

                        This. Maijo wins.

(except the infinite front end timing window on GH3, but that hardly matters)

All this from the company that once used Phil Hartman to schill an ice hockey game on atari. Shame!

a huge corporation cares more about their employees making them money than them having fun on the job. WHAT THE!?

whatever I'm still buying Starcraft II and Diablo III. DURPA DURP.
