I don't hate it. Not by any means. The problem with it, for me, is that I bought it hoping to get something like Tales of Vesperia, which probably was my favorite game of 2008. Fun combat and good characters with a fairly forgettable story.
Unfortunately, the characters are meh at best to me, and the little girl is SO ANNOYING. Seriously, my ears bleed any time she talks. It's like a bad impression of a mentally disabled 8-year old.
Also: Edge Maverick? Seriously? Nobody on the localization team realized that sounded ridiculous.
Still, the combat is fun (although I barely ever use chain combos, no sir I just blindside everything to build up my blue bonus board), so that's good. The dungeons/fields are HUGE and fairly unimaginative, but the graphics are decent.
I think as I give it more time and get more separated from ToV (I find that my fingers instinctively go to the right stick to pull off special moves, which can be annoying) I'll be more generous to it. Still, I'm not regretting the purchase of the game.
Crunk, are there still people that play Chromehounds online? I've thought about picking it up again.
Ive actually got a squad started with about 12 members last time I checked, that are on most nights. I just got back into it again after not playing it for about half a year.
Damn, i really should check out chromehounds again, but with my MMO's (think i'm gonna cancel WoW AGAIN), and other multiplayer games (TF2 and KZ2), i dont know if i have the time for another multiplayer game, especially if i try to play regular games on occasion.
I still havent started SO4 yet though. Maybe tomorrow night.
Well, looks like it got generally positive reviews, though you guys called it perfectly: great gameplay, lousy story and characters.
I'm particularly interested to see if they made good use of a space/sci-fi setting this time around--not that the space and futuristic segments weren't great in SO3 (I literally got chills during the Moonbase arc), but even there they were few, far-between, and offered very little to explore or interact with.
Personally, I want to make erotic games... Really. I quietly said to the previous company president "I'd like to make erotic games" to which he retorted loudly, 'NO!'
