      Re: Nintendo DSi

shape of the RAM cartridge. it's smaller for the DS Lite, so it sits flush with the system.

I see no reason the larger RAM cartridge wouldnt work with the DS Lite.

Haha...for once not upgrading is an advantage. I still have the old, clunky DS...the one that I could actually get the internet card for. XD

Keep in mind that the DS has RAM limitation when web-browsing. If you are looking for an upgrade, than I'd suggest the PSP-3000. It has a much better screen than the older PSP models, has 64Mb of RAM, (compared to 32Mb for the PSP-1000 and 8Mb for the DS) and supports Flash (DS doesn't). Although, the PSP has a limit on the number of words you can type when posting in forums (I think 180 words on average), but I don't know if the DS has this problem too. I wish I knew though.

the PSP browser runs out of memory faster than the DS browser. and the newer PSP models' web browsers do not make any use of their increased amount of RAM. the touchscreen keyboard for the DS is far better than the PSP's text entry method.

The PSP browser also requires that you own a platform that's pretty much dead right now.

What? I thought the PSP-2000 and 3000 did make use of the increased RAM. It said in Wikipedia they did, but then again not everything they say can be trusted. But the reason why PSP run out of memory so fast is because you have to close the tabs when the PSP opens them when clicking on links. Would you happen to know if the DS has the same problem with typing as the PSP? You know, with the word count?

the PSP 2000 (no one has a 3000 yet to verify) uses the increased RAM exclusively for Skype and to speed up loading speeds of games. the browser doesnt use it at all.

and closing tabs doesnt fix the memory problem. once the PSP runs out of memory, there's no convincing it otherwise unless you restart the browser.

I don't know about the word count on the DS browser.

I know what you mean. It drives me crazy when that happens.

Really though, browsing the web with the DS, Wii, PS3, or any vidya game system seems kind of pointless.

I think the iPhone is different, because you don't need a WiFi connection for that. if I had one, I could browse the Pavilion at work, and waste even more time.

Unless you want to browse worry-free from viruses.

When you browse in fear, the hackers have won.

It didn't say anything in Wikipedia that you could do that. It said it searches for WiFi, but not that it could browse the web without Wifi. I migh be wrong though.

It is a phone after all. It can browse the internet through the cell network. 3G is faster than the system they had with the original iPhone (I forget what it's called).
