It involved hours of doubt, blubbering, and self-loathing.
I got to the same part of the game twice, and incidentally had my file trashed both times. I had about 80 hours invested in both of those files, and yet, the end was nowhere in sight.
DQIV was great. I beat it on the NES about five months ago. DQIV is not the best of the series, DQVI, VII and VIII were also wonderful.
The one problem I had with DQIV is that all the characters lose focus in Chapter 5. Once you get the hero, each character has no involvement with the story after they join you. Also, DQIV removed the job class system but that's only a minor problem since they give you so many characters. I still say DQIII was better than DQIV, but they're both good overall.
DQVI is where it's at, I can't wait for that one. I have the import of DQV and DQVI and I play them occasionally, but a localization would be nice.
I really want to get a copy of DQVII, I lost mine, and I can't find it anywhere.
VII is too long. Obscenely, too long.
If you didn't like DQVII's length, you're going to hate DQVI.
