Also: Who here actually played Parasite Eve II? I thought it was a pretty solid game, albeit it a Parasite Eve of a completely different color. I think that it's gameplay mechanics have aged considerably better than the original, myself.
I agree, really. It was nice to fight in real-time without waiting for a bar to fill up first(though I saw the merits of doing it that way as well), and it allowed the action to flow much better. If only Aya didn't have the running speed of an amputee box turtle, or there were the ability to dodge or sidestep. The script was also much-improved from the silly and sometimes-juvenile writing of the first game.
Parasite Eve II was a solid game, but I didn't think it was very affecting. Actually - A LOT LIKE CRISIS CORE - I felt a lot of the time that my actions weren't counting for anything. I felt downright lonely. A lot of the time the isolation worked well with the atmosphere, but sometimes it was just frustrating that no one was around. Especially in comparison to the first game. I felt like a part of the story in the first game. In PE2, I felt a lot like I was searching for the right thing to do until the game let me progress.
Also, I think there was a puzzle where I had to figure out Wyatt Earp's birthday, and I was like, "I hate this."
PE1 and PE2 are wildly different games. PE3 might have been able to strike that happy balance between the two, but I wouldn't count on iiiiiiit.
I guess no one can complain about the Japanese having terrrible fashion sense. I remember being stunned when I found out that they let the women of team silent design Heather's outfit, so it would be "stylish." I thought it was the most butt ugly **** I've ever seen, but they loved it.
Have you seen the japanese dudes in Host Clubs? These are supposed to be the hot guys that japanese women fall in love with, drop their fiancees, and drop down thousands of dollars every day to spend time with.
To me they look like a bunch of skinny girls. Oh japan, look what the bomb radiation has done to you poor people!
Talking about the game's design is off topic? Okay...
I borrowed PE2 from a friend a while ago, but once I started playing it I quickly lost interest. The controls were clunky, and it seemed like a big 180 from the first game. Plus, the setting wasn't as cool (NYC > LA... and the ****ing desert). I guess I should give it another go?
As for the new one, I just hope they eventually port it to a real console (like SH:origins). But I won't hold my breath.

I had a really hard time getting into Parasite Eve II at first, in comparison to the original which felt much more accessible. I certainly never got enamored with it like I did with the original [parasite eve] when I first played that game back in '98.

PE2 is a pretty good game, it just takes some time getting use to. Expecially if you had spent so much time with the previous as myself. A lot of neat things in that game. Just wish they kept the weapon/armor system in parasite eve. Ya know, combining different weapons together to get their special effects. Don't think that the weapons have any special abilities in PE2... could be wrong mind you. The story isn't quite as good as the original, but it was enjoyable. At least give it another shot.
As for Aya's new outfit in the new one, I don't really see why you people are comparing it to that of a street walker. That outfit looks nothing like it. Just a little tight is all. My complaint about it is more about age. That is more of a teenager outfit. I know she isn't old or anything, but honestly the only excuse to wear that kind of thing is to go clubbing.

C'mon now, why can't Aya Brea go to a night club? It's not uncommon for grown women to go to nightclubs. Especially in Manhattan.
All I'm saying is if I never aged I'd slut it up every once in a while too.
As for PE2, maybe it is because I spent a lot more time with it than the first one but I thought it was way better. The controls were a lot more intuitive and though they were certainly ripped straight from the RE games it worked. In my opinion the enemy designs were pretty strong and there were a lot more of them, the boss battles were fun and the environments were pretty cool. Though they weren't as familiar as Manhattan and there's certainly nothing with the weight of something like the city being evacuated or the flaming chariot in Central Park, but there were certainly its share of creepy moments and scares and some things that are pretty unique for a horror game. The story was admittingly not as strong as it could've been, actually, I really don't know what the hell the story was for PE2, some company was trying to use Neo-Mitochondria as a power source or something?
The guns were cool though, you couldn't combine abilities but you could attach a shotgun onto an assault rifle, or unlock Squall's gunblade~!
For what it was worth I thought it played way better than the first game, but I'm also a nut for the RE series and never minded things like tank controls. I would like Parasite Eve 3, if it'll even have a chance, to take more of the guts from the second game, but to bring back the heart of the first one~~~~
