Pick a disease type, and it starts you off in a random region. Slowly build up evolution points and slowly evolve more and more deadly attributes, and try to kill every person on the planet, and sit back and watch as they shut down schools, have riots, close borders, and hand out bottled water as you infect everything possible.

the ongoing joke is that Madagascar is the hardest country to infect. As soon as anything starts going down they get all "OH GOD PEOPLE ARE SNEEZING IN RUSSIA! SHUTDOWN THE BORDERS! CLOSE THE AIRPORTS! OH GOD DONT LET ANYBODY INTO THE COUNTRY! And you can never get to them.

Man, I wish games like this would become full commercial games. Toss in some professional quality graphics and music and some animated scenes of people burning bodies and handing out gas masks and this is something I'd gladly pay money for on Wiiware or XBLA.

I was the incredibly creative parasite "Symbiotitis" and started in Japan. Took freakin forever to get out, but I spread pretty fast after that. Unfortunately I spooked the Argentines to quickly and they closed their borders and shipyards, so I couldn't infect them. After what seemed like an eternity I killed off the rest of the world and lost

I'm gonna try a virus tommorow on realistic mode. So far the strategy I'm depending on is to increase infection rates while keeping lethality and visibility as low as possible. The idea being to spread out while still under the radar and wait until all regions are infected before going all out.

ITCHY MOOK WAS UNSTOPPABLE! Only problem is that I didnt kill nearly enough, and there were 4 places that didnt get the infection. DAMN YOU MADAGASCAR!

Virus spreads the quickest, and builds up evolution points faster than anything else. Its best to just keep whatever traits you started off with, like only sneezing or coughing, and let it spread. As soon as it starts hitting up places like crazy evolve some hardcore stuff like heart failure, or all kinds of other nasty things.

Vaccines also have a chance of failing. Like what happened with Itchy Mook!

2. whole world gets infected with symptomless virus

If a country as small as Japan or Madagascar closed their borders they'd run out of food in less than a year so consider yourself the victor regardless.

Youd think birds and other things would spread it across to islands too anyway. Plus youd never be able to stop EVERYBODY from entering or leaving. Thered be sick people trying to get there going SAVE MY BABY, and they bring it in with them and kill everybody.

P.S. You still had people uninfected 215 days into it? You must have been doing reality mode, because I had the whole world (except Argentina ) infected 60 days in on relaxed mode.

yeah Im on reality mode. But I had every person in every country infected, except the ones in the countries that shutdown all their borders, airports, and shipyards before it spread there. And once they do that its impossible to infect them, so you cant do anything about it, and just continue making your virus deadlier to kill all the infected people in the other countries.

Rather odd for a disease to deliberately try to kill everyone. Then who will it infect?

Regardless, I'm still playing it. My first attempt: Parasites. My "El Salvador" (I was very much tempted to name it Las Plagas) started off in East Europe (the mountains of Romania, I'd imagine), and is now to the point where there are no healthy individuals except in those countries that have locked themselves down, in this case Japan, Greenland, Indoneisia, and Madagascar. The islands of the world may be safe... but there is no hope for the rest of humanity.

I also find it interesting that at one point, half the population of the world had been infected, and yet no one had died. Makes me wonder why they bothered to take such strong measures to contain it. I mean, it's not like it was the Black Plague or anything. It will be once I have enough points for encephalitis....

EDIT: Done. Also, there's these two ships that are just wandering around the Atlantic Ocean that have nowhere to go since all the ports are closed.

Played this last week a couple times. Best to go with Parasite, build up every immunity and sell any symptoms that say anything about visibility going up. Fever and Cyst worked really well in that regard, and once Fever hits a mutation it spreads like crazy.

Madagascar is a ****ing *****, though. Only possible way to spread the virus is to have a ship dock there that's coming from an infected country, and the lower your resistance to heat and moisture, the less likely you'll infect it. I only ever managed to kill Madagascar twice, and that was after devising the high resistance / low visibility method until all countries were infected.

Oh, and starting on Madagascar is really helpful, too. >=3

The only world-killing disease I managed was called Daigle Delight.
