FYI David Hayter basically lived with Alan Moore for two months while writing his script for The Watchmen, and at the end Alan Moore had to concede it was probably the best possible adaptation that could be translated to the screen.

Then the production company got ahold of his script and sent it through a series of terrible writers for rewrites.
