Marcus' embarrassing habits number 36: Every time I boot Civilization IV I stop and sing the opening theme song out loud. One of my co-workers is Swahili, overheard me playing, and started singing out loud as well.

Turns out it's a prayer or something. Did not know that.

This is why you learn what the translation is to a song before you sing along to it.

for all you knew, you could have been singing "I have a small ding dong! la la la la la!"

It's the song at the end of CoP, an expansion that's insanely difficult to finish. I just figured some would want to save that as a reward for hours upon hours of setting up complex parties to defeat ridiculous bosses.

FFXI may be a horrendous $13/mo time sink, but much of its music is worth listening to.

Ones you should definitely check out:

- Gustaberg
- Rolanberry Fields
- The Republic of Bastok
- Voyager
- Airship

Breath of Fire 3 had a nice jazzy selection in its OST, namely Casually and These Little Things.

And if you can ever find a copy, or the music, check out Shadow Squadron for Sega's 32X. There's never been a game more underappreciated, IMO.

Breath of Fire IV had some beautiful music in it. The key track is the one that plays during Fou-Lu's stay in the village, when the girl Mami helps him recover from his injuries.

I was going to say Silent Hill 2, but I guess it is very appreciated.

Damn strait BOF IV. That track in the village is amazing. I also really like the songs the old frog woman sings and the overworld theme. IV's music is vastly better than the misplaced elevator jazz from III that people seem to love so much.

Also I have to second Magus's choice of The Neverhood. Skullmonkeys has some amazing music too.

Einhander has one of the best techno/electronic music soundtracks ever. I have yet to find a shooter with a better OST.

I agree. Crazy atmosphere, killer music, and german speaking robots. Good combo.

A sequel or even a remake would be great.

If not a fan of the instrumental choices, can you at least no apprecaite the melodies of the tracks?

For some reason, I really liked the music from BoFIII. Maybe it's because it sounds like videogame music, like something 8-bit. The songs are catchy too. You can say that FFXII had amazing music, which it does but hell if I can remember what any of the songs sound like except for maybe two.

I've yet to play IV, but the soundtrack for Dragon Quarter is amazing.

Skullmonkeys has some amazing music too.

Skullmonkeys was so messed up that I loved it. The music was so goofy yet so catchy. I just wish that the game ended better.

The Tenchu series is one of the greatest modern tragedies. The first game is great but every game afterwards has been nothing short of total ass. Mindboggling, really.

Wrath of Heaven is suppoused to be good, but I'm thinking on picking up the original. Would it be worth it today, or has it aged terribly?

Hrm. I'LL PLAY IT AND FIND OUT.

And I'm preeetty positive Wrath of Heaven doesn't hold a candle to Way of the Samurai, which was made by the guys who did the first Tenchu.

Then again, all these games probably aged terribly.
