    Re: No More Heroes

All I've played is Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Sonic & The Secret Rings, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Resient Evil 4 Wii Edition, Zack & Wiki... Yeah, The Wii definately has no decent games. Not a single one. Nope.
And none of those games appeal to me. All previous first person RE games were garbage so I had no time or motivation to play the new one. I refused to play any Sonic game after Sonic Adventure 2. I beat Galaxy on my sister's Wii during holidy break. I stopped caring about Metroid Prime after the second game. 6 of my hours were spent playing Twilight Princess before I realized that it was pretty subpar. I beat RE4 twice on two different consoles. I bought Zak and Wiki yesterday which was the game that made me realize my Wii stopped working...

...Yeah. Right when two games that appeal to me (Brawl and No More Heroes) comes out my Wii explodes. I wish I had time to devote to games like I used to when I was in school but now I can only play the cream of the crop and those were the two Wii games I considered to be the cream.

With my Wii dead, 2 xbox 360's dead, and a 5 year old laptop all I have to keep me company are independent comic books and a PS2 with 500 hours worth of bad JRPG's sitting on my backlog.

At least comic books are cheap and don't break...

Comic books are like $3 each.

          Re: No More Heroes

So far this game has made me smile more than any other Wii game has...and I've only played for a few hours. Yes, I beat Mario Galaxy.

GREAT humor! GREAT style! I love how the main character is such a wrestling and anime dork and a badass at the same time. I wouldn't be surprised if he's just a crazy nutjob, and we're seeing the world through his twisted eyes. It feels like playing Kill Bill the game.

Thank you Suda. You give me hope.

EDIT: hopefully this game doesn't tank and will give Suda a reason to come back to Wii (his next game is a 360 game)

There are so many fun surprises in this game.

              I will beat this tonight.

              Can't wait.

              Then another play through.

I wonder how many Travis Touchdowns we will see in cosplay and Halloween.

                  Re: No More Heroes

                  My poor, neglected Wii.

I want to play No Mora Heroes, but I don't want to pay $50 for it.

I want to play Zack & Wiki, but I don't want to pay $40 for it.

I want to buy RE4: Wii Edition, but I've already played and beat that. Don't want to pay $30 for it.

They'll all go down in price eventually, and I'm in no hurry to play them at this moment. I still have quite a lot of games that I own that I haven't even really started.

                    Re: No More Heroes

From what I can tell from what Jester is saying it seems really short.

I mean, he beat it in less than 1 day.

Is there any benefit to multiple playthroughs?

Is the anti-aliasing as bad as online videos make it out to be? The environments look quite bland and ugly. Other then that it looks enjoyable.

                        Re: No More Heroes

I got so desperate to play NMH that I referred to my old methods of getting the NES front loader to work:

                        1: I kicked it.
                        2: I dropped it.
                        3: I cursed at it.
                        4: I spat in it.
5: I sacrificed an orphan in Nintendo's name.

                        It now works.

Turns out that games with the slightest scratches instantly fail. Considering every Wii game I own but NMH is used, I now have to trade them in for new copies (but I kept the receipt for the recent Zak and Wiki so I can return it for a new copy).

You could always pay the normal retail price of $30.

                            Re: No More Heroes

Okay, finally played some of this game so here's my opinion:

For one, the weirdness factor was definitely scaled down from Killer7 and Contact but this game is essentially a parody of bad anime and "stylish" action movies like Story of Rikki and Kill Bill. There's a lot "lol what?" moments like taking a dump to save the game (and the save screen is printed on toilet paper). The graphics are pretty generic with stiff animation and terrible level design but I've never been confused about where to go so I can say that it's at least effective.

The combat is standard hack n slash. Mash A, move the Wiimote up and down to change styles, sometimes press the B button to break your enemies guard, and swing the wiimote side to side to finish an enemy off. Nothing spectacular and the various blade upgrades and new wrestling moves do little other than offer more flash.

The mini-games are actually more fun most Wii games that are BASED ON mini-games. It's amazing they can make mundane chores like mowing the lawn and scrubbing graffiti off a wall fun.

I can't help but feel this game is lame in comparison with other kooky action games like God Hand with it's decent amount of customization and insane boss fights. No More Heroes is a really, really, really, really easy game and there's not that much substance or motivation to continue on past seeing what the next luchadore move you can pick up is.

It's a pretty average game but it has great pick up and play value so I recommend it. I can't see myself devoting hours of time to it but I'll definitely play it little by little until I beat it.

                                Re: No More Heroes

First play through about 12 and a half hours.

Second play through you get an extending ending and an extra battle.

                                New game + ftw.
