Re: You Know What Amazes Me?

Ogre Battle cost me $80 brand new in the SNES days. To this day, that's the most I think I've ever paid for a single game (ie-no special peripheral bundle/special edition/etc)

I just got my copy on ebay for 21.25 (of course, this was only the monetary average, since I got 5 other games with it, too).

People seem to think that videogames are expensive now with the whole $60 price tag but I clearly remember paying 60-90 bux for some games like the Phantasy Star series. I'm looking at my original Final Fantasy III (VI) strategy guide which has an mail order advertisement for Final Fantasy II (IV) at 70 dollerz.
I remember I couldn't get Phantasy Star for the Master System because it was like $85.00 at the time, and there was no way my folks would pay that much for one game.

Although, years later I did convince my dad to get a copy of FFVI for one of my siblings, even though it was more expensive than any other game for the SNES. He asked me why, and I tried to explain it by saying "this game is like playing through a novel." So he bought it. And as a special bonus, I got to play it once they were done! I'm so clever.

These days I'm stingy with my gaming dollars. I'm not going to spend an outrageous amount of money on a single game. I'd rather have food, clothes and art supplies instead of bubble bobble part 2.

Simple solution: Keep the food and art supplies, ditch the clothes, and play Bubble Bobble 2 in the nude!

As tempting as that sounds, I refuse to spend $100+ on a NES game. I may be stupid, but I'm not insane.
