    Help

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes.
Basically I'm really late and perplexed on getting a couple a christmas gift. They both like games and are more current on whats out there than I am. They have a 360, and I checked and yeah they already have Halo 3. I don't really know whats good, whats been out lately thats hot right now? They like pretty much everything except FPS (exception =Halo) and like, sports.

    Give me your opinions!

That sounds good. I suppose I could also read that top 5 360 game thread, couldn't I?

They also have all the old systems, and DS, I'm thinking a good DS game could be cool too, and I'm even more clueless there. Suggestions!

              Re: Help

I'd say Ace Combat 6 if they like flying games. If it wasn't so likely it will eventually make its way to PS3 I'd personally count it as a reason to buy a 360.

Then there's Gears of War and Mass Effect.

Any PS2 game in the Greatest Hits list would probably make a good gift.

Maybe he gave them up for other extracirucular activities.

Not really. I think the last ones were FFXII and Okami because someone got them as gifts for me, and I've played Halo and Soul Calibur with roommates sometimes. Usually games aren't my first choice when I have some downtime and if theres something great and fancy I should try out I usually hear about it from others. I don't own anything but a PS2 though so with games going next-gen I really haven't bothered. Thus why shopping for someone else is a little difficult.

Oh the passive aggressive italics. Well the answer doesn't really change: yeah more or less. I liked FFXI and Okami and played through them both but if they weren't given to me I'd never have touched them. Last game purchase was Soul Calibur 3 when it was released.

Thanks tj. I'm checking these out on amazon.

Shadow of the Colossus is pretty nifty.

I'm shocked you havent at least kept up on castlevania, especially with rondo of blood finally being in the US and all.

Yes, Castlevania is good. I'm buying Dracula X Chronicles as soon as I get a PSP. Which will be... the day after tomorrow.

                            Re: Help

Well, I gave that last PS2 one a whirl and was underwhelmed. I haven't played any of the portable ones since I've never had DS/PSP.

I don't think I'm missing much. I just touched a nostalgia vein and watched the last boss battle from that rondo remake on youtube. Youtube eliminates the need to actually play things. So I can waste time on youtube instead of mashing buttons on a screen.

Actually now that I think about it, one of the first things I did was sold off the more expensive **** from the collection I had of those. That SNES rondo version fetched like 50 bucks ebay. Man that was a long time ago. I still have some of them boxed away somewhere though.

                              Re: Help

The only Castlevania games worth playing post-SOTN are:

                              - Castlevania: The Dracula Chronicles X (for the Rondo re-make)
                              - Casltevania: Aria of Sorrow

But YouTubing videogame footage instead of actually playing them?

I'll admit I did that for a few games I never knew I'd have the chance to play but I've never considered it as an actual substitute.
