No game has ever made me cry but Shadow of the Colosuss put me in a very raw emotional state, and I can't think of any other game that's done that.

Same here. I let my sister's boyfriend play the game while I sort of coached him through it. He struggled with the controls for Agro through the entire game.

When Agro fell, he laughed and cheered a bit. I wanted to hit him in the ear.

I am finding SotC painfully boring. I am running around with no clue where I am suppoed to go through these dull, uninteresting landscapes. Uh-Oh my spidey sences are saying somthing bad is about to happen! Oh wait, my bad, just another dumb walking rock man or horse... or THING... *** SPOILERS ***
I am sure the laughing and shadow creatures staring at me have to do somthing, but I really don't care about them it's pretty much IMPENDING DOOM OH NOES.

Is "bored to tears" an emotional state?

Please tell me this game picks up pace a little bit.

Does it pick up pace, with y'know, actually interesting Collosi?

The game's a breeze. Sounds like you don't know what to do.

In which case it IS your fault.

edit: The game's about fighting big bosses. If that's not your cup of tea, I'd go back to busting Deceptichops.

"The next collosi is by a lake"

Great, thats a friggin lot talking sky people. Would it kill you to mark it on my map or somthing? The glowing sword doesn't help too much.

I would really hate resorting to a FAQ for a simple game.

EDIT: I am not saying it's a bad game by concept, just I cant see the appeal. It's the same with the MGS series for me.

I don't think a game has ever made me cry, but I've been hit with some pretty strong emotions during them, like the end of MGS3. the whole damn thing was just depressing as hell.

also, setting my seaman free and him not talking to me any more. that was very sad.

The Pavilion is making me cry.

I don't think any games have, though. My heart kinda froze over a few years over.

Did anybody else watch part 2 of Rise of the Videogame on Discovery last night. It was about this subject specifically. Part 1 was the Pong, Pac-Man era. This one talked about the evolution of storytelling in games from Super Mario to GTA3.

If it makes you feel any better RD, I don't like SotC either. I like fighting the Colossi but I could really do without the traveling part. Trudging through empty, featureless landscapes seems like just a timesink. For months now I've only had 4 of them left. But even with a map from IGN so I don't have to worry about wasting time finding my way, it doesn't take long for me to turn it off out of boredom. If they'd teleport me directly to the Colossus or better yet have them all roaming around from the beginning to be tackled in whatever order I found them, I'd be happy.

You gotta learn to accept that Shaodow of the Colossus is all about the journey. The landscapes may seem barren and empty, but would you rather have a few fetch quests and "collect x amount of x" quests thrown in there for good measure?

I do agree that letting the player take on any of the colossus in whatever order you wanted to would have helped so it'd be easier to get into. All the colossus except for the last one, of course.
