Re: EGM = BULL****
But (devil's advocate), maybe the advertising is working TOO well, inasmuch as they are presenting a game to him that is in a genre that he enjoys, and due to the advertising/hype behind it, he feels as if he NEEDS to enjoy the game in order to be a "true fan" of the genre, so he plays through the game, and decides that he enjoys it because it just seems as if he should.
Or am I the only one that shallow (with music moreso than video games)?
Although, on the other hand, I pretty much did this for the first few Tortoise and Flying Saucer Attack albums I bought, and then after listening to them for a while, I realized that they were damn good.
*shrug*

Well no, he said he sometimes buys games just because of magazine ads.Originally posted by PostulateMan View PostIsn't that the opposite of a victim? He liked the games that he never would have bought without marketing.
That is a primary outlet of marketing, while reading articles and previews that tell you whether the game will be good or not to make your purchasing decisions I think is different from marketing.

Congratulations, you won't be throwing money at Bungie! Bungie isn't developing Halo Wars, and Microsoft owns the Halo IP.Originally posted by Perversion View PostUnfortunately, I know what Halo 3 is, and this is why I'm waiting until Halo Wars comes out to take my turn throwing money at Bungie.
