yea me too, but then i saw it was a combined topic.

i think the camera angle is always the main problem in a lot of games these days. seems thats the most common gripe.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

      Re: Folklore

Misty's not even on my PS3 friends list anymore. She has forsaken us.

Aand... I was obviously a huge cryer for this game back when it came out. I'm kind of disenchanted from the game at this point because the replayability just isn't there, and the add-on content is fun, but really pointless. It adds nothing substantial to the mythos of the original storyline except to flesh out unimportant secondary and minor characters.

I still loved the original playthrough. For Goufu, yeah, you kinda need to keep up with Folks or you'll end up spending a LOT of time all at once getting your basic attacks up to snuff. Although I'm pretty sure you can easily beat it without doing all the leveling up and stuff. I only had a hard time beating Ellen's third big boss and that was mostly because of the strange glitch where you can target her deployed Folks when they stick around for a moment or two on-screen.

        Re: Folklore

Besides Eye of Judgment, this might in fact be the only other PS3 game I purchase at retail between the day I bought it and when LBP comes out.

Would it be safe to say that Folklore is to the PS3 as Fable is to the Xbox? Not talking game specifics, but in general terms, would this statement be accurate?

          Re: Folklore

I don't remember any of the stuff about Fable, so uh... I dunno. What did they say about it?

At its heart, Folklore is a monster-collecting game with a better-than-average storyline (though it seems really trite and boring at first, it does eventually start surprising you), and almost always spot-on voice acting. The visuals and art design are just... magnificent. Not like... pushing the envelope on graphics capability, but it does what it does, and it does it GREAT. The gameplay might not vary enough towards the end, and the levels don't deter from the demo like... at all. Each level (and each character's version of that level) has the same basic point to it. Get new Folks, defeat the Folklore, move on. There are Quests later in the game that give you specialized challenges within each Realm, and they're sometimes extremely basic and sometimes pretty challenging and fun.

My giant review earlier in this topic, with an 8.5 out of 10 overall score, I think still stands today.

            Re: Folklore

I'd back up BRC's score of it. In addition the developers did a good job of integrating the motion-sensing controls into gameplay. Initially it takes a little adjustment, but it becomes second nature quickly.

I didn't go for the expansion packs, and I finished the game in around 35 hrs. I think I squeezed about 95% of what there was to do out of it. You can go through it quicker than that, to be sure, but I'd caution against trying to finish it as quickly as possible. Broken up into pieces it's lots of fun, but in large stints it can become a real chore.
