It's not like in Dirge of Cerberus, is it, where you do all these cool things in the cut scenes, and then when you're playing you can't actually do them?

I gotta say Marcus's enthusiasm is making me think about getting a PSP and this game. The new FFT doesn't hurt either.

But I just don't know about Zack. Are there actually people who were interested in Zack's story? I mean it's like having a sequel to FF4 and the main character is Edward.

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Or like having a prequel to Lord of the Rings and the main character is Bilbo.

Well, no, I'm not expecting Tolkien storytelling from Nomura. It could be cool if Zack became a real character and not a plot device. It's not that he's not all brooding like Cloud. Instead he's more like... Sora. Or Goku.

I figure he's gonna fight Sephiroth or something and be like I'LL LET HIM GO, 'CAUSE I'M SUCH A GOOD GUY, and then he'll die and end up in the Home For Infinite Losers.

I thought the Hobbit came first?

Edit: Yeah it does. You're logic is flawed and your argument flimsy. You are awarded no points.

What does that have to do with Crisis Core?

But when you think about it, all the bad ass stuff that Cloud thinks he did? Zack. Zack is the bad ass. It's like Cloud except not a whiny *****.

Even though the ending is kind of spoiled, if they go far enough.

If I recall correctly Zack got *****slapped by Sephiroth's sword while Cloud used his stomach to grab it and throw Sephiroth into the lifestream.

                      Thereby granting Sephiroth god-like power.

                      Way to go, Cloud.

The combat is just as hectic as the cinemas. You can't exactly dive off a helicopter and bowl into a crowd of Wutai soldiers but you can do cool stuff like deflect bullets (how this works...) and do dodge rolls and stuff. It feels like an action RPG unlike Dirge which felt like a half-assed shooter.

And it's a pretty straightforward game. I memorized what SAVE looks like in Japanese so that was no biggy and there aren't many menu choices. The only thing that confused me was the menu screen at first but almost everything is accompanied with some sort of telltale icon like a giant sword or green materia or something. As far as the plot goes, the characters body language is enough to tell what's going on and there's some small english sprinkled in. Figuring out the side missions was tough at first but I know how to access them now.

So the story and dialogue could be awful and you just don't know.
