My PS2 - Broken? Haunted? Who knows.

I've had my PS2 for nearly 3 years now, since the PS2 slim came out. And I haven't had any problems until now. It's started eating DVDs. Which really sucks because I use it to watch DVDs more than anything. Now I'll be stuck watching them on my computer until I can get a DVD player or 360 or something. I am most decidely not pleased. Stupid Sony.

But it's in my room and a good DVD player is not.

the PS2 slim has pretty good DVD player, actually.

PS2's DVD player was the only DVD player I had until I got the PS3. now that's my DVD player. the less hardware I have to have hooked up to the TV, the better. especially since I currently have... seven consoles and a VCR connected to it.

                VCRs are soooo 90's.

Regular PS2 DVD players work just dandy for me. I don't know what the hate is for them.

                  Maybe it's just because I don't have some fancy flat-screen 58" HD-TV.

Then again, I think VHS tapes looks just fine on a TV as well.

                    It could be...

Though, I haven't had any problems myself with the PS2. I did have a PS1 that ate several games.

The complaints are valid. I have to turn the volume up quite a lot when playing DVDs on my PS2, and it certainly is [...] missing other nifty features. Most of the time it gets the job done, though. Most of the time.

I know. I got that photo from a Kotaku article about 360s eating discs. They're all evil. What ever happened to that DVD enabled Wii? Maybe Nintendo could make something that won't turn on me.

BTW, what is the likelihood that my PS2 will eventually start eating games too? Or is the fact that games aren't spinning constantly likely to keep them safe? I'd ask if there was any way to fix it but I'm sure it'd involve opening the thing up. That would not be a good idea for me.

Uh, you DO know that the PS2 DOES play movies in 480p right? Plus there is a setting in the PS2 that allows you to turn the system volume up, which fixes any volume issues.

                              Thus, the PS2 eats them.
