    Need some SUGGESTIONS

    Recently I've really gotten into run n gun and shoot em up games. Does anyone know of games similar to CONTRA 3? Because I've played it to death now.

    I'm more interested in platform shooters than vertical/horizontal scrolling ones but I am open to anything.

    Any platform, too.

      Look up anything with Contra in the title. The last 2D shooter I've heard of was Contra: Shattered Soldier.

                Metal Slug is a pretty good title, any one of them works.

                Of course, the Contra series. Contra, Super C, Contra: Hard Corps, Contra: Shattered Soldier, and Neo Contra. I think I'm missing a few, but oh well.


                There were also some generic shooters on other systems, like The Expendables. Also, Loaded and Reloaded on PS1 were kinda interesting, but rare.


                However, I'll have to recommend Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier. Gunstar Heroes is simply amazing, and along with Alien Soldier, are two of Treasure's best games (and some of the only I can think of aside from Dynamite Headdy). Gunstar probably plays the most like Contra, but Alien Soldier has like 30 bosses in it and is hard as hell. Well, once you learn the enemy patterns it's a breeze, but it'll be about 20-30 minutes of replaying the first little bit before you get used to it.

                  I think I'm going to buy Metal Slug Anthology. Seven games should keep me busy for a while.

                  I'mma check out Alien Soldier and the Expendables, also. What system is Expendables on? I'm having trouble finding any info on it.

                  This kind of gaming doesn't actually seem too different from Guitar Hero at its core to me...it's a lot of reaction, trial and error and button mashing which is really ****ing refreshing after having spent 50 hours on FFXII.

                      Indeed, I've heard great things about Loaded.

                      My favorite is Sunset Riders.
