Depends on the game, so I voted for both.

      Re: power leveling

      I'm currently power-leveling in Dark Cloud 2

But that's kind of the point of the game. Building up your weapons. Then building towns every once in a while.

I don't every really try to power level. It just HAPPENS. Unless we're talking about FFX, I totally power leveled in that game. I had 255 for every stat and around 60,000 HP.

And in Disgaea. Trasnmigrating 20,000 some levels and power leveing Laharl and my legion of Divine Majins. Then having my file trashed.

      Yeah.

          Re: power leveling

I don't powerlevel, because I don't have the time, and I feel it's kind of cheap. If a game allows powerlevelling but doesn't it force it on me, I'm okay with that. However, if I'm forced to powerlevel to progress, I consider that crappy game design and I usually won't finish the game.

I will grind levels as a side effect to side-quests and other goals I might be trying to accomplish, but simply fighting to boost stats hasn't been fun for me since Dragon Warrior (NES).

Wait wait... you can Power Level in MMO's? I thought it was just... leveling. Cause that's the point of MMO's.

              Re: power leveling

Power leveling in MMos is having a higher character crank up your levels very fast. Higer than quests expect you to be.

                Re: power leveling

I don't power level in the sense that I just sit there fighting battles over and over again. But I'm usually overleveled just by playing the game at my natural pace.

The exception is if I'm playing a game where you're supposed to do it like Vagrant Story and equipment or Rogue Galaxy and weapons.

                  Re: power leveling

I only power level if i'm trying to get some skills or get something interesting because of it. Otherwise I just go through at a lower level than I should be until I have to level.

Sometimes, I listen to other music when I powerlevel. It kind of keeps the monotony at bay with melodic pleasantries.

Power leveling is about the only thing in a video game that can almost put me to sleep.
