Not to mention the SC series getting progressively worse since the original.
Well, I always hated Soul Edge, and as much as I like Soul Calibur, I much prefer SCII. SCIII isnt that bad either. I don't like the way they nerfed some fighters (nightmare isnt as strong, and talim isnt as fast), but its still a good game.
Tekken is to Soul Calibur what Tekken is to Virtua Fighter.

Yeah, SCIII split nightmare and seigfried up, and tore their movelists in half. Now nightmare isn't as strong, and seigfried isn't as versatile, they BOTH suck. Hell, just tone down Ivy's blasted long range and Raphael's....everything, and SCIII wouldn't have been so broken.

And that's why the only decent game to ever come from Team Ninja is, you guessed it, NINJA GAIDEN. And nothing else exceptional compared to Tekken has come from them since, despite developing for almost a decade. I hate that fugly, ignorant, and sexually frustrated SOB.
Quote of the moment - "When you cut down a tree, don't stand near it."
Eh, I never liked VF too much. It requires more practice than most technically deep fighters, plus the cast is generic and the story is terribly boring to me. I'd probably play a lot more if I had more arcades to play people at though.
I love my Tekken though. As of 5, it's fast paced, over the top, has a large and distinct cast and it's easy to get into and develop your skills. I also liked the series for its endings, which give a chuckle or two at the very least.
I wonder what SCIV would be like. I just hope it's more balanced than III.
I'm not sure who exactly made Death by Degrees but I bet you it wasn't the Soul Calibur team. They were probably busy with SCII or III. It was probably the Tekken team.
SC Legends is the cover story of the new Nintendo Power. I hadn't seen screenshots before only those concept images but it looks really good. Then again, I'm not a great judge of graphics I think a lot of games look good that most people find unimpressive. I haven't read the whole article yet but part about the controls is interesting.

You can perform vertical and horizontal strikes, as well as thrusts, and slashing the remote left to right executes a different attack than slashing it right to left (the same goes for slashing up to down and vice versa). Furthermore, the speed with which you perform ach movement determines whether your character does a weak or strong attack (quick for weak, slow for strong). And each fighter has a full complement of combos that you can dish out by stringing certain moves together in a particular sequence. The nunchuk's analog stick controls your character's movement, the B Button jumps, the Z Button blocks, and the A Button locks onto an opponent. The nunchuck's mothion sensitivity also comes into play. Simply flicking it will perform a quick dodge in the corresponding direction, but if you hold the Z Button and flick the nunchuk just as the enemy's weapon collides with yours, you'll execute a Guard Impact, parrying the strick and leaving your foe wide open to attack. Finally, you can unleash powerful Soul Charge attacks by holding the C Button and completing certain gestures with both hands. After a surprisingly brief period of adjustment, we found the control scheme to work brilliantly.
