I've never heard of rotoscoping outside of animation before.

But no, I just print out a copy of the photo, draw while using it as reference, then scan it in and paint in grayscale in Photoshop over the line art, with like...probably 30 layers or so of different transparencies, ha. I'm a layer whore.

It takes a long time. X_X
