    Re: So who else hates weddings.

    Oh yeah, I'm not a fan of weddings. Last wedding I went to was my cousin's and people always ask you dumb things like when your going to get hitched.

    I like to drink, so at least it's an excuse to do that, but for the most part they are pretty boring. It'd be ok if the gathering was a place you could pick up some ladies, but you have to pick them out from who's already married, who's not related to you and that sorta thing.

    Last but not least, usually the reception dinner isn't all that great.

    So not so great food, hours and hours on end with not much to do equals a real boring day.

      Weddings = Awkward Contrived Tradition

      Reception = friends+booze fun, no friends no booze no fun

        Well you could always just skip the relations part... Weddings are the best place to find hot, unmarried cousins.

          I think weddings can be lots of fun.. and the free food at the reception is the icing on the cake.

            I just went to a wedding this last weekend, and had a blast. Saw some friends that I hadn't seen in about a year. I agree with the above statement that friends and booze = fun wedding, no close friends = not so fun wedding.
            My favorite part about this wedding was that it was outside in a park, and a friend did the ceremony (he was ordained-I guess), so there was no long, uptight, religious ceremony. The bride and groom even had their dog at the wedding.

              What I hate most about weddings is everyone asking me when I'm getting married. I've been engaged for four years, so I've had four years of this question. I've actually started wearing a simple band with my engagement ring so people would think I was married and stop asking me that question.

                Having been married just recently, as Den already pointed out, I can tell you it's no fun for the bride and groom, nor the maid/matron of honor. They are usually the ones who make all the decisions and work very hard to try to make the occasion special and even enjoyable for everyone. It's extremely stressful. Family and friends may complain later but to my knowledge everyone had a good time at our wedding and reception... well, except one person. I'm sorry about that, Den.

                I enjoy weddings. I've been to several and they helped me figure out how I could make the most people comfortable and happy when they went to mine. I enjoy receptions too. It's nice to visit with people I haven't seen in a while or even people I see often but don't have the opportunity to really talk to. I like the music, the dancing, the laughter, the food, the flowers, the little kids. I like seeing the happy couple and wishing them happiness.

                My favorite wedding, though, was Diana's. I watched the repeat on tv the other night and she was so beautiful. I remember when I first saw her wedding dress, I wanted to at least look half as pretty. She was so happy and everything was just lovely and wonderful that day. It took more time to get everyone to the church and actually start than it took for them to say their vows. Too bad we couldn't see the reception that came afterward. I'll bet that was swank. ^_^ After all, royalty always has access to the best.

                We're going to a wedding November 4th and I'm looking forward to it. I know these people can party. ^__-
