    Random interesting facts!

    Kermit the Frog is left-handed
Less than 10% of criminals commit about 67% of all crime

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months, and 6 days you would produce enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

The venom of the Daddy Long-legs is more poisonous than that of the Black Widow or Brown Recluse, but they cannot bite humans because their jaws can't open far enough.

Your more likely to die of a flying champagne cork than a spider.

There is more real lemon juice in Lemon Pledge furniture polish than in Country Time Lemonade.

The winter of 1932 was so cold that Niagara Falls froze completely solid.

In their lifetime, the average man grows 27 feet of whiskers.

The Bible is the most shoplifted book in the United States.

Every hour the US throws away 2,000,000 plastic bottles.

There have been over 7,200 acts of terrorism against the US over the last 15 years.

    Ok now your turn!!
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

That article didn't go against it really. Just said that some frogs and things were more poisonous. My thing doesn't say they are the most poisonous animal, just the most poisonous spider. Which they are.s

And these are only as reliable as the internet...hehe

        whatever you take that as.

The article actually said that no one would ever know how venemous that spider would be to humans because they would have to actually inject the venom into humans, which is against the law. So how did this urban legend come into being if no one's ever been bitten by one to find out? If toxicologists don't know, then I doubt heresay is correct.

            Re: Random interesting facts!

if you read snopes, you'll see that theres no way to know if it's venom is even dangerous.

Furthermore, there are no toxicological studies testing the lethality of pholcid venom on any mammalian system (this is usually done with mice). Therefore, no information is available on the likely toxic effects of their venom in humans, so the part of the myth about their being especially poisonous is just that: a myth. There is no scientific basis for the supposition that they are deadly poisonous and there is no reason to assume that it is true.

in other words it doesn't mean the statement is false it's just unverifiable.

Oh well... your still more likely to die from a flying chamagne cork than a spider anyways... I've heard that one multiple places too. Even in a tidbits I read.

That's misleading and mostly inacurate... the falls have never frozen solid. In fact, they've only ever stopped flowing once in recorded history and that was due to an upstream blockage of ice formations.

A lot of the other facts, including the one about the champagne cork seem either unlikely or unable to be proven.

Not that it really matters... but just so you know.

                  Re: Random interesting facts!

Well for the spider thing, on MythBusters they actually had one of the main cast stick his hand in a large container full of of the Granddaddy long legs spiders, and he got bit, and never suffered any ill effects. So they can bite humans, and are not poisonous, or at least not leathally so. So it's pretty hard to beat that, as I used to believe that as well since so many people are told it.

The Lemon Juice is probably true, as it is dangerous to drink large volumes of pure lemon juice, since it eats the enamal off your teeth in large doses, and I imagine can't be too good on your stomach.

And I wasn't aware - could be a valid username, interesting.

I had heard the daddy-long-leg deal. Though the long-legs I'm thinking of is not the same thing as the one pictured in that link, and isn't really a spider. I didn't know there was a long-legs that really was a spider. Oh, did Mythbusters happen to mention where the myth started?

Anyway, these are interesting tidbits, even if some of them might not be true.
