I have a paper mache Jesus holding a glass of wine, winking, and giving me a thumbs up who sits by my computer at all times. I just thought he'd be relevant. =(
I need a keycard to get into every other building at work. I find myself holding my wallet up to random doors just out of habit. Like, random doors outside of work.
I also have a key card with my name and picture on it. It's sensitive, so I don't have to take it out of my backpack to get in when I come into work in the morning. I have to wear it around my neck all day.
I am also keeper of the supplies in my office... I have a key to a locked filing cabinet full of office stuff, so umpteen times a day people come up to me and are like "Can I have this? Do you have this?" and I feel like some sort of dungeon keymaster or something. Only, I don't know if dungeon keymasters get nearly as much whining and nagging. Or get interrupted during their coffee breaks for a ****ing pen.
This is the weird part. Actually, it's just sad: The supply cabinet is old and the lock doesn't always work because it's been moved so many times from floor to floor, and with the right leverage it can be opened even when locked. SO, even though the filing cabinet has a large red sign on it that says "This filing cabinet is locked. Please ask [Rena] for supplies.", people walk in and YANK the drawers open, making a horrible racket in the process. I caught someone who had wrenched drawers one and two open and was pulling with all her might to get to the third one, and I was like "Um. That's locked." and pointed to the sign.
She looked at me indignantly and said "I thought it was open."
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."
