I just saw a show on the History channel about the bloodline of Mary Magdalene (Jesus's wife). They couldn't properly prove that Jesus actually had children with her, even with DNA from a Morovingian queen (the descendant of Mary Magdalene) and the DNA from supposed descendants of Jesus. They also were lead to believe that some of the documents used to perpetuate some of the "facts" in The DaVinci Code were either falsified or didn't contain information The DaVinci Code claimed they did, like the Dead Sea Scrolls and a Priory of Scion list of Grand Masters.
I think Skeptic.org, which does a lot of pseudoscience-and-strange-beliefs-busting, handled the question of "what's stupid about the Da Vinci Code" quite nicely.
I just watched a thing on i think it was like 20/20 or something showing how the Priory of Sion doesn't actualy exist and how it all got started and stuff. Also last night I watched a thing on Opus Dei on the History Channel...that group is just stupid. Self Mortification does indeed exist in it, and there reasons for doing it were stupid in worldly reasoning esp. since there's tons of verses that go against it. I mean what happened to the whole body being a temple for God and stuff?
Also the Da Vinci Code book is plaqued with holes. The whole painting of the Lord's Supper and stuff doesn't even make sense with what he says in the book. How many apostles were there...how many are in the picture? How in the hell can one be Mary Mag. Plus they said john was the youngest most ellegant of the apostles in the bible.
All in all the Da Vinci Code is harming only because of ignorant retards that can't see all the holes in the book, or are just plain too lazy to look into some of it themselves. The mix of half-truths is the danger, that people might actually believe some of this. My mom calls it a sign of the times and the devils way of working in the present day, all going with revelations or something. I honestly could care less, if your too lazy to research into something you start believing it's your own damn fault.
On a side note, how many poor craftsmen with a wife and kids have time to travel on foot from town to town spreading religion? I have friends who are married with two kids and they barely have time to do ANYTHING, and one of them doesn't have a job.
Jesus may be our savior, but he's also a deadbeat dad.
I'll prolly see the movie though, because I like Ron Howard's and Tom Hanks's work. I also wanna see some hot Albino assassin action.
The funny think is my bf is albino, and most, like him, are legally blind...they wouldn't make very good assassins.
he's legally blind though...he can see, just blurry...pretty much as well as me w/out my glasses. All that "legally blind" means is your vision can't be corrected to a state where you can drive. It's a side effect of albinism.
And BTW, early reviews say that the movie sucks. Oh well.
i think people who think this movie's gonna be good are weirdos
also, i read an article in some paper last week about christians who wern't offended by it, and saw it as an opportunity for non-christians to ask questions of them about christianity.
