Yeah, I remember reading that too.

Is Evangelion overblown? Absolutely. Its popularity bothers me a bit and it upsets me to know people are only fans because they're Rei-worshipping perverts.

I wonder how its assured success on Adult Swim will affect things.

I've only seen 4 1/2 episodes and I've already spoiled the major plot points for myself (thank you very much, Internet).

I don't think I'll ever watch the rest of it; I don't watch anime (or anything, really) to be depressed.

I'd rather read analyses of it. I think I'll go do that right now.

EDIT: In fact, I would take the mindless action of BakuTen; the wacky AWESOMENESS of Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu?, Galaxy Angel, Shinobuden, Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu and it's sequels, the otaku-gathering in Genshiken, the adorableness of Azumanga Daioh, Tsukuyomi Moon Phase, Kamichu, and several others over Eva any day.

So, uh, yeah.
