The point is that we have a governmental system in place that allows for multiple parties, like the Green Party on top of Republican and Democratic. The fact that we've never had anything but a Republican or Democrat in the Presidential office doesn't change the fact that it is possible - but not plausible - that we could.

So we have a multi-party system, it just doesn't work.

We've had more than Republicans and Democrats, you just have to go back a ways to find them. To make it a functioning multi-party system would require limiting financial contributions. Until then we're stuck with corporate lackeys that lean slightly to the left or right.
