Suicide Club is just... ugh. I couldn't watch it a second time. Though I was mystified and compelled to watch the song that the crazy guy who looks like a Tidus cosplayer performs for The Bat more than once. The scene absolutely horrifies me, but I kinda like the song.

Goddammit the Japanese are ****ed up beyond repair!! Ever see a Takashi Miike movie?

Now, this is what... what? The third topic on the main page about their... eccentricities?

Ringu, the original movie, IMHO, really REALLY cops out towards the end. Like, in a lame deus ex machina type of way.

I want to see the movie "Audition". But I haven't seen it in any Suncoast.

Suncoast has some culty, obscure stuff but I don't think they carry many Criterion Collection DVDs, which Audition is. Your best bet is a Barnes & Noble or ordering it online I guess.

              MASSIVE RINGU SPOILER

You didn't think the somehow-psychic boyfriend explaining everything at the end was totally gay? Wow, way to defuse another otherwise creepy and atmospheric flick. The American remake was superior in that it fleshed eeeeeverrrryyyythiiiiing out and the characters figured the mystery out through good 'ol investigation and not sloppy "psychic" powers. Bleh.

I vastly preferred the American Ring.

                Naomi Watts is luscious.

I like each one for different reasons. I think Sadako is scarier, but Samara's a much more tragic character (but only by a little. If you've seen Ring 0, you know what I mean). I think Samara looks cooler (I love how she looks bloated and waterlogged and how her dress is dirty and she's all wet and she oozes water everywhere), but I think the way Sadako moves around is way creepy. I like the atmosphere more in the Ring, but the story to the Japanese version is better. As a big fan of both, I've just never been able to rate one above the other. They're both very good movies.

As for what Magus said, yeah, I kind of agree. But, in the Ring, how Rachel just found everything on the internet was equally lame. However, I think Reiko seeing everything was because Sadako wanted her to. Same as Rachel's dream in the Ring.

How exactly is someone a much more tragic character by just a little bit?

                        ^ Ditto.

                        Saw it, that's it.

You can pull lots of stuff from it like the fear of technology, its role in society, the viral implications of passing "a tape" around, the ramifications of child abuse, the destruction of the family, the power of a child's imagination... it's a very Japanese story.

There are similar themes in Parasite Eve, Akira and Eva. Y'know, "Medical horror" stuff.

I don't really remember the Internet stuff Rachel was browsing (though I do remember the URL for each page began with C), I've only seen the movie once in theaters when it came out. I thought she was just browsing old articles and stuff. Something a good investigative reporter would do.

And it's also been a while since I saw Ringu as well but I think the actress who played Reiko was pretty hot as well. Like, the Japanese equivalent of Naomi Watts.

I thought the idea of a phantom phone call was hilarious....come on, what if you don't have a phone...what if you don't have your bills paid up...what if your cat chewed through your lines...what if you don't understand english...what if someone else answers?

What if all of these corny-ass jokes had already been asked?
