This guy can claim he's hetero until he's blue in the face, but his knowledge of that show still seems to contradict him at every turn. I'll admit to having watched some less gender-appropriate shows in the past (look, Desperate Housewives was actually entertaining there, for a while), but at no point would I have been capable of writing detailed paragraphs about what the characters wore, using red flag (minus the L, ha ha) words like 'Manolos'.

      That said, an interesting notion.

I'm glad I'm gay enough to enjoy Sex and the City. That show is hilarious in its ridiculousness.

I think it would be quite reasonable for Caciss to bet this man $500 cash that he used a thesaurus at least 40 times in a paragraph. I mean
            !
            What is all that business?
Ossified? The hell does that even mean? Fossilized. It means fossilized. He could have used: solidified, become, made into, rendered into.

As for the actual content. I guess if you over-think the entire movie, then it does become rather chilling. Like Strawberry Panic. *** SPOILERS ***
I used a thesaurus on purpose for this one
            *** END SPOILERS ***
Make a loquacious discourse concerning an anime that is basically glorified lesbian rape fantasies, and it turns into a psychological contemplation of the intricate labyrinthine psyches of young teenage girls trapped in a world of rape, sex, rape, falsehood, and ravaged and irreparable hearts. And rape. Definitely lots of that. Either way, he's trying to put a square peg (complex thought) into a round hole (a shallow movie about shallow women having shallow sex with shallow men).

Actually, there's no guarantee he was hitting the thesaurus heavy. I have something of a tendency to speak in a similar fashion, both online and in real life. Maybe it's because I was reading before I went to school and really interacted with kids on a regular basis (meaning I did not realize in time that some words, though found in books, typically don't have a place in common speech), but I frequently use words others consider unnnecessarily large and complex for a situation, and it's almost always being done subconsciously, without regard for how pompous it might sound. I was only dimly aware of it until my young cousin called me on it a few years ago, giving amused eye rolls when I would bust out such inflated terminology and thus provoking me to hit her with even more of it on purpose. For example, some wings I had ended up getting lost in the fridge for several days before I found and consumed them today. Instead of describing them to a friend I was talking to as having gone bad, or whatever, I said that they had begun to suffer a degradation of quality over time, or some such thing. I suspect the Penny Arcade guy works like that too, to some extent (or at least did at first, before his readers began to expect it). His vocabulary far exceeds my own, however.

The show was something girly that I actually enjoyed. The movies are not as good as the show. That being said, I am going to go see the movie this afternoon with a few of the girls. Yay for American holidays in Canada. I'm really only going for the free popcorn I was promised if I drive.

I mean, hey, my old roommate liked Sex and the City and I just chalked it up as another factor of his actual verified gayness, but then my other, STRAIGHT roommate turned out to be a big fan, too.

Though having met his girlfriend it could be that maybe he really is gay

Stereotypes exist for a reason. It's foolish to assume they apply to everyone, but equally so to try and ignore them entirely; most of them are at least partially based on fact. Heck, most straight guys don't even know specifics about male fashion, much less female. Doesn't guarantee that he's gay, but it skews the odds in favor of that outcome. Much like how I could never say with absolute certainty my first college roommate was gay, but a combination of things, such as his lisp, the drama major, love of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and lack of non-friend females, certainly pointed in that direction.
