From a scientific side, Thermite is created when rust (well essentially) reacts with one of the follow elements aluminium, magnesium, titanium, zinc, silicon, or boron. Of course it has to mixed the proper ratio (1 for 2). But what are the odds that both those things weren't there to begin with and because a Plane crashed into a tower they mixed together.
Also I'd really like to point out that Thermite is extremely volatile, if the tower got melted down it would show somewhere in the evidence.
Don't go looking to hard into something. It's fun to act like you're onto something cool but you usually always end up looking a bit foolish.
