That's because you're in hideous mode. Go to the lower left of the screen, pull down the tab that says "default" and change it to "Blue Emerald". Then start punishing yourself for making fun of an autistic woman.

edit: Er, I guess it's called "basic". But yeah, the other layout is much nicer.

Whichever has the gunmetal/slate/purple/whatever color this is supposed to be is the one I've used since I arrived. I think I switched for a day once, and then switched back.
