It is unlikely that the government will be able to keep housing prices pegged as artificially high as they are now even with bailing out defaulting home loans(they haven't collapsed as much as they should to get prices back to the historical trend before the boom)...
IMO, the housing market is going to get a lot worse within the next 6 years under the condition that this oil crisis worsens and that transportation costs increase...
...unless your house is located near the inner city and is in walking distance to many businesses, the value is likely to go down in the long term.
In any event, it is a nice house.
It isnt in the inner city, but it is within walking distance of stores, a very prominent high school, and the old downtown that is a very popular location.
The area we moved to has pretty much bottomed out already, prices are stabalizing or going down much slower than they had been. Trust me, we took much of this into account when we were looking, this wasnt a spur of the moment thing, but it did have alot to do with the current market (owner of the place i live now is probably gonna have to sell because of the market crash, and we dont like this place enough to buy it.)
We left here about 10 minutes after my last post, and have been at the house the entire time working...i'm so tired i want to pass out, and my feet hurt. Got alot done, but we wanted to paint one of the rooms because it was this aquamarine color, and we decided to go back in with cream/yellowish (it looks really good, not gaudy yellow) paint color, and we only got one coat on today.
Oh god, i'm tired, but...its mine!
Edit: OH, and Terr, we bought this home pretty much at the bottom of the market, we didnt buy it for what it sold for a couple of years ago.
Since my previous post was long, i'm making a new post with some more pics.
This is my room, its got the built in desk, which I like, and it is a long room, so it has plenty of space for my stuff, and a large closet (not a walk in, but a large closet).
Its got a decent backyard for the dog to play in, but nothing so huge.
I probably wont be posting for a few days, as we moved the moving day up to tomorrow, but comcast wont be out until sunday to get cable set up, so i'll see you all in a few days moved into my new home.
Its very common for homes to have multiple fireplaces, I know 3 houses Ive been in right off the top of my head thats had 2+ fireplaces, most are located in the living room and the other being in the dining room, you'll also sometimes see a third one in the master bedroom.
Alot of older homes now has had their fireplaces removed since advances in technology has made fireplaces obsolete...a majority of fireplaces are propane and dont even use a chimney.
I see a chimney on his house, so one of those fireplaces are probably an actual fireplace, the other is either a real fireplace on the second story or a propane fireplace.
Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!
