    Here We stand

So, I've come up with a little cash and wanted to buy a few cds. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should get? I listen mostly to alternative, soul, and jazz, but I'm also keen on ska, dance, and hardcore. I was considering the new fratellis album, but I'm not quite sold on it yet.

    Any suggestions would be great!

Any of Elvis Costello's first 3 albums.

Ska you say? Any interest in Hungarian world music?

Try Streetlight Manifesto. ****** on CD. Also Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution. Also Rx Bandits might be your flavor. They're going more rock as they go, but they still have ska influence.

If you listen to jazz and soul, I've heard that Corrine Bailey Rae is quite good. If you like soul and electronic, I would say to hunt down 4-Hero's Two Pages album, although I'm sure you will not be able to find that. If you listen to alternative, I'd advise you to give some of the "alternative" genre's influences a try, namely the Pixies' album Doolittle (I'm on a major listening spree of that album now that I just DLed it for Rock Band), and The Velvet Underground's first album (The Velvet Underground and Nico). For me, it's good when the young 'uns get into the past so they know the roots of what they listen to currently.

But then again, you listen to Zappa and Trout Mask Replica, if I remember correctly, so I really don't need to be telling you this.

Oh, and for something a bit different, I would say pick up Dead Can Dance's A Passage in Time or Into the Labyrinth.

Or any of Flying Saucer Attack's albums. Okay, I'll stop now.
