    righty/lefty logistics

I do most things w/ my left, but there are exceptions. For example, mouse w/ my right cuz doing it w/ the left is just not meant for the left hand...If I were drawing w/ a mouse or something, though, I'd want to do it w/ my left hand. Also, I bat in baseball right handed...because I prefer backhand motion w/ my left arm (came in real handy when I got into tennis, had a good forehand and backhand was already familiar from baseball). I also play guitar (and guitar hero) righty cuz I want to control the notes w/ the more skilled hand. That's why it surprises that "righty" is strumming w/ the right, not laying the fingers down for the chords. Wii games are so up in the air cuz I'm used to controlling my guy w/ the left hand, but if I have to aim at something, well, I just can't do that w/ the right.

I know this is kind of a garbage post, but guys at work were talking about this and I often get asked why I do (whatever) righty, and I have to wonder why right handed people do what I would consider to be lefty. Oh well, whatever.

They make mice that can work with left-handers.

Yeah, but I dunno man...I work w/ 3ds Max all day, and I'm too used to using shortcuts that are meant to be accessed w/ the left hand as you're mousing w/ the right. I could change up the keyboard, but that would just be a pain in the ass every time I switch a computer, having to relearn the shortcuts I've gotten used to.

im left handed. i use the mouse with the right hand because thats how i grew up using it aka not being a hassle, i play right handed guitar because thats how i learned it ie more convenient, and i use utensils with both hands except i only use chopsticks with my left.

i kick with my right foot, and lead out with my left. sometimes i wish i used the mouse left handed because then playing bw would be a little bit easier but i cant be bothered to learn.

i think most people could be ambidextrous if they wanted to (my brother used to be left handed but is right handed now) but i tend to take my coordination for granted.

I eat with my right hand, write with my left, throw with my left, m********* with my left, use the mouse with my right hand, type with both (I use a REALLY quick hunt and peck....I never took typing as a class, and thus never learned to use the home row), use chopsticks with my right hand, and usually kick with my left foot. I play Rock Band/Guitar Hero (and a real guitar, the few times I've tried to play) lefty (ie-I strum with my left hand, and finger the strings/buttons with my right). I'm actually happy, now that I think of it, that video game controllers were originally made (well, from the NES days on) with movement controlled by the left hand, and the buttons with the right. The Atari controller was awkward for me when I began using it, because it was intended for controlling the joystick with the right hand and the button press with the left.

It IS weird, thinking about it, that video game controllers were originally made (seemingly) for lefties, and all the righties had to conform to it. Although, any game where I need to press the buttons very rapidly, I usually rotate the controller to press the buttons with my left fingers. If I'm forced to rapidly press buttons with my right fingers, I ALWAYS fail miserably. My buddy once asked me how that could possibly be hard for me to do, and I really didn't have an answer for him, besides the fact that my fingers on my right hand do not move that fast. Even with my left hand, I usually resort to the, "rub your finger across the button as quickly as possible" thing, which I've been doing since I first played the track and field game for the NES.

I do most everything with my left hand... though when I was younger (10 or 11) I decided to be ambidextrous and started using my right hand.. The result is that I can do most things with my inferior hand better than most people, but I'm not truly ambidextrous, and my handwriting probably suffered from using my right hand for such a long time.

The one odd exception is that I can only snap with my right hand. It boggles me. Also, when I drive with one hand, it's usually my right hand... but that's because usually when I drive with one hand it's because the left is holding a coffee/tea mug or is out the window feeling the breeze.
