Toshiba anounced it would no longer be making HD-DVD. I believe Hd-DVD lost to Blue-ray for these reasons:

Disney supported Blue-ray, but not HD-DVD

Walmart supported Blue ray too.

"Blue-ray" is much easier to pronounce. Here's my impression of a stuttering guy trying to pronounce "HD-DVD":

"AITCH_DI-VI-DI-VI-DI-VI-DIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
