    Wireless problem

    My wife is having problems with her wireless router, its saying the device has malfunctioned and windows cannot recognize it, we've tried resetting the router, using different USB ports, upgrading software, installing/reinstalling the USB drivers/etc..., and it keeps coming up with that message

    Its a Belkin Wireless-G, her and I use Vista, I can get on just fine wired, just the part that plugs into the USB that sends/recieved the wireless signals isnt being recognized, is there something I missed or does it need to be replaced? I just got it a few months ago.

    This is more or less for TCC since hes the tech guru, but if anyone else can help out itd be appreciated.

    Are you sure it was fully uninstalled from your computer? Did you try manually removing it using the Device Manager(Or the Vista equivalent; I'm unfamiliar with Vista)?

      I tried putting it on my comp and ended up with the same error message, I think the usb hub is burned out like you said TC, so, eh, guess Ill be burning $30 on another one

        Did you not keep the receipt? Also the way you described it was quite confusing as none of the wireless routers I know have a usb connection. Maybe a wireless adapter. But yeah if it's not working no matter what combination of drivers you use then it's likely a hardware problem. Also I would make sure you get the latest drivers from Belkin's site and not use the ones on the CD first before buying another one.

          I have always had problems with my USB adapter. I would recommend getting one that you actually install, or one that you plug into your NIC. My big problem is that mine is constantly dropping the internet, even though it's still attached to the network. Then again, wireless can always be buggy.

          Checked NewEgg and they have a pretty decent list of network cards that arn't hard on your wallet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...s+card&x=0&y=0
