I got off of work early, and I wanted to see a movie tonight, so I chose between Surf's Up and Ocean's Thirteen. I wasn't particularly thrilled to see either, but I chose the former because I had seen Shia Lebeouf in "Disturbia" and really liked it, so I figured he'd do well in a voicing role.
Before I start, and don't criticize me for this, but there were girls in the theatre, between ages 15-17, estimating, and they would say "Aw" whenever a baby penguin appeared in the movie, even the protagonist. This was cute, at first, but it kind of lessened the enjoyment of the movie.
Shia, in a voicing role, was...well, normal, in my opinion. He didn't suck, but his character of Cody didn't necessarily blow me away. He mumbled a lot, and mumbling gets on my nerves sometimes. However, the chicken-dude stole the entire movie. He was "dudish" but his part didn't oversaturate the flick, and I personally found him to be my favorite character. The other supporting characters did their part too.
Overall, I liked the flick, but once is good enough for me, in regards to this movie.
